The Best Hotels With Jacuzzis in Los Angeles, California
In a city as packed with luxury hotels as Los Angeles, it’s not hard to find accommodations with a jacuzzi in which to relax – in fact, the choice is almost overwhelming. To narrow it down, Culture Trip looks at LA’s top hotels for hot-tub enthusiasts, featuring private whirlpools overlooking the Pacific and poolside jacuzzis in which to sip cocktails. Whatever your style of soaking, these are the nine best hotels with jacuzzis in Los Angeles, California.
Shangri-La Santa Monica
Hotel
Opened in 1939, cruise liner-inspired boutique Shangri-La is located on the oceanfront in Santa Monica, a five-minute stroll from the iconic Pier and Third Street Promenade. Maritime-style accommodations are spread over 70 guest rooms and 30 suites, featuring sea and/or city views and deep spa tubs (several suites also have high-tech gourmet kitchens). Recreation spaces include the elegant pool area, loosely modeled on that of the retired British ocean liner RMS Queen Mary, and Onyx, Santa Monica’s only indoor-outdoor rooftop bar/restaurant.
Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel
Hotel
Attention to luxury detail is evident before you even enter the Four Seasons Beverly Wilshire: turning off Wilshire Boulevard, you’ll pass under a gateway modeled on the one at Buckingham Palace, past street lamps imported from Edinburgh and walk on cobblestones flown in from Italy. Some of the larger suites feature jacuzzis for private use, but there’s also a heated spa tub in the Mediterranean-style pool area. Bookable VIP experiences include helicopter tours, a trip to the boutiques of Rodeo Drive with a personal shopper and a night’s “glamping” on the 10-floor terrace.
The Garland
Boutique Hotel
In the early 1970s, businessman Fillmore Crank built this characterful North Hollywood boutique for his wife, actress Beverly Garland. The couple bequeathed the property to their son James in 2000, who annexed the Front Yard – a vibrant eatery inspired by fresh Californian ingredients – and improved the outdoor spaces. Retro-chic characterizes the suites and rooms (all of which have private balconies), with warm splashes of orange on cushions and curtains. The swimming pool area features chaise lounges, mattresses and an adults-only jacuzzi in which to relax with a cocktail from the Lobby Bar.
The Fairmont Miramar
Hotel
Located on a five-acre (2ha) site overlooking the Pacific in Santa Monica, the Fairmont Miramar is the only oceanside LA hotel to offer private bungalows. Built between 1920 and 1946, they’re set in the Miramar Gardens and feature private patios, hot tubs and a soothing color scheme of whites, greens and beachy blues. The rooms and suites are in the Ocean Tower and offer floor-to-ceiling Pacific views, either north towards Malibu or south towards the Santa Monica Pier. Adults can relax in a jacuzzi on the pool terrace, which turns into an open-air cinema every Saturday evening (where guests can partake in the free popcorn).
Shutters on the Beach
Hotel
Hotel Bel-Air
Hotel
The marble bathrooms at Hotel Bel-Air – which was originally built as offices for oil tycoon and developer Alphonzo Bell in 1922 – go way beyond the functional. Not only are they fitted with spa tubs in which to soak with a glass of champagne, they also feature built-in TVs and heated floors. When not kicking back in your luxury bathroom, head to the hotel’s legendary oval pool: added in the 1940s as a horse riding ring, it was the setting for one of Marilyn Monroe’s most famous Vogue shoots. Poolside snacks and lunch and dinner menus are courtesy of Michelin-star chef Wolfgang Puck.
Shade Hotel
Boutique Hotel
Two-person Sanijet spa tubs come as standard at Shade’s hotels in Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach, both of which are around a 30- to 40-minute drive (barring LA’s infamous traffic, of course) from Downtown Los Angeles. Other options for relaxation in these modern, Pacific-facing accommodations include access to an adjacent spa in Manhattan Beach, yoga classes in Redondo Beach and rooftop bars and plunge pools at both hotels. World-class Californian wines and coast-inspired SoCal cuisine are the focus of Manhattan Beach’s Zinc and Redondo Beach’s Sea Level restaurants.
Le Méridien Delfina Santa Monica
Hotel
Guests receive two glasses of welcome champagne at Marriott’s Le Méridien Delfina Santa Monica – a bright, modern hotel situated a few blocks from the beach. Jacuzzi fans need look no further than the Ocean View Sunset Suite, the balcony of which features a four-person whirlpool overlooking the Pacific and skyline. When you’re done soaking, transfer to the patio around the heated saltwater pool, pump weights at the 24/7 fitness center or head to the Longitude Bar for a craft cocktail or to sample classic Californian fare.
Portofino Hotel and Marina – A Noble House Hotel
Resort
Opened in 1962 and named after the picturesque Italian fishing village, the Portofino was the final destination of 1971’s Cannonball Run, a legendary, unregulated motor race from New York to LA Nowadays, its cheerful, beach-themed accommodations feature full-length windows opening onto private balconies, where you can enjoy views of the secluded King Harbor and the Pacific beyond. Jacuzzis are included in many rooms and suites, and there’s also a spa tub in the oceanfront pool area. Guests can hire bikes from reception, kick back in the Living Room Bar or visit the harbor’s resident California sea lions.
