Swimming just a bit north of Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach is one of Florida’s underrated vacation destinations. Within an hour from Orlando and Saint Augustine, this seaside city gives you the option of adding theme park thrills, historical tours, and world-class racing to your beach vacay. Best of all, you don’t need to go broke to have the time of your life on Ormond Beach – just check into one of these cheap hotels and only overspend your time under the sun.

1. Lotus Inn & Suites

You don’t have to pitch a tent to spend the night on the shores of Ormond Beach, but – ironically – you’ll want to spend day and night outside when you reserve a cheap room at Lotus Inn and Suites. From the oceanfront fire pit to the outdoor hot tub, you’ll hardly see the interior of your city-view room. The beds are mighty comfortable, though you may just as easily nod off poolside on a daybed in your cabana.

2. Ocean East Resort Club

Who said romance needs to be costly? Not Ocean East Resort Club, that’s for sure. The oceanfront pool and jacuzzi alone are enough to spark a little flirty flame between longtime lovers. Chase each other into the Atlantic until your teasing is lost beneath shoulder-level waves. Run back to your one-bedroom suite all wet and wild where you’ll find a “do not disturb” door hanger ready to do its job.

3. Casa Del Mar Beach Resort

Casa Del Mar Beach Resort is primed for an affordable family-friendly Florida vacation. There’s a suite sized to your budget and family headcount, giving you and the little ones the space you need to truly relax. The kiddos will love practising their doggie paddle in the Olympic-sized pool and building sandcastles on the beach. On a rare rainy day, the resort will keep them occupied with an activities program and exciting game room. When the sun peeks back out, minigolf is also right across the street.

5. Tropic Sun Towers Resort

You wouldn’t be the only guest assuming that the biggest free perk of Tropic Sun Towers Resort is its beachfront location. You also won’t be the first visitor pleasantly surprised to discover that a book exchange, sauna, sun deck, hot tub and shuffleboard court are all included in your stay. Swim, soak and suntan to your heart’s desire, leaving your wallet to rest in a one or two-bedroom condo; the only thing you need to flip open to access this private beach is a lounge chair.

6. Coral Sands Inn

If the ocean breeze doesn’t put your mind at ease, the affordable accommodations at Coral Sands Inn will. Private exterior entrances and wraparound balconies with ocean views will make you think you’re at a resort; the receipt will make you think you got away with robbery. If you can spare a few more dollars, you won’t regret trading them for an upgrade to a private oceanfront cottage.

7. Hampton Inn Daytona/Ormond Beach

Race fans rejoice: Hampton Inn lets you get up close and personal with Daytona International Speedway’s checkered flag without forcing your wallet to wave the white flag. This I-95 hotel is minutes from the Speedway and just as close to the Atlantic shoreline. Free parking, free wifi and free breakfasts really start to add up when you consider how much you’re looking to spend on nachos and beer during race day. If you’d like to keep your mileage low and gas tank full, a few hours in the outdoor pool won’t cost you a penny.

8. Baymont by Wyndham Ormond Beach

Anyone who’s been saving green to spend on the greens will consider Baymont by Wyndham a hole-in-one. It’s the affordable golf getaway of your dreams: a sparkling pool, a fitness center for pre-round workouts, and close proximity to LPGA International keep your budget as close to the pin as possible. The beach is a 20-minute drive away – that is, if you don’t end up detouring to the other country clubs along the way.

9. Best Western Castillo Del Sol

Why roll out the red carpet when you’re just going to track sand all over it? Best Western trades the stuffiness of a resort hotel for the laid-back oceanfront experience you and your wallet desire. Simple guest rooms all receive free full breakfasts in the morning and unlimited cannonball sessions in the outdoor pool. The only quarters you’ll have to shell out are for the laundry machines, unless you want to take the grains of Ormond Beach back home with you.

With a room right on the ocean, you’ll enjoy bouncing from the pool to the beach every day, stopping only to cook up your favorite vacay bites without blowing your budget.
