The 10 Best Bars In LaVilla, Jacksonville

Andreea Pavaloiu

In 1887, the town of LaVilla merged with Downtown Jacksonville, and three decades later, LaVilla became a major transportation center for Jacksonville, as well as home to the city’s African-American community. Its streets and people remind tourists of buzz, good music and euphoria, with people like Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Ray Charles entertaining the crowds at this jazz hotspot. But nothing really beats LaVilla’s nightlife and late nights with friends in its lively bars, here’s our favorite picks for a late night drink.

Downtown Jacksonville

1. Music Hall

Bar, American

Located at the heart of Jacksonville, this music hall is the premier event space in the city. The venue is the brainchild of partners Jason, Brian and Duane, bringing music and art to LaVilla. Fully equipped with intelligent lighting, an out-of-this-world sound system, friendly staff and an ever-expanding wine and beer selection, this joint wants to bring Jacksonville back to its former glory. The bar itself was built in 1904, which explains the name of this venue, as well as its astonishing architecture, brick blocks and wood beamed ceilings. Plus, party goers will be amazed by a fantastic view of the city skyline seen from 1904’s impressive courtyard.
