Miami is the proverbial Mecca for shopping malls
Miami is the proverbial Mecca for shopping malls

Shopping has become America’s new favorite past time. Miami takes this activity to a whole new level, luring shoppers to its magnificent retail haven. The malls of Miami are the largest of their kind, featuring everything from big name retail anchors such as Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s to fine dining restaurants and state-of-the art entertainment facilities. Here, we profile Miami’s most prolific shopping malls.

Village of Merrick Park

Park, Shop, University

Located just a few miles away from The University of Miami, the Village of Merrick Park is one of the swankiest shopping plazas in the city. Smack dab in the heart of Coral Cables, this upscale and pedestrian-friendly neighborhood is commonly referred to as ‘City Beautiful.’ Merrick Park features more than 100 tenant stores and restaurants. The mall is complete with multiple luxury retailers surrounding a gorgeous courtyard. Add a tropical finish and you’ve got yourself a mall that accurately represents Coral Gables and its residents.

Dadeland Mall

Shop

Having had recent renovations, Miami’s oldest mall is looking better than ever. Dadeland Mall is the go-to destination for the residents of Kendall and Pinecrest, but also attracts people from all around the world. 17 million people visit Dadeland Mall annually, and no other South Florida mall can boast of having a brick-and-mortar Free People and the largest Macy’s in Florida.

Lincoln Road

Lincoln Road truly is the premier shopping destination of Miami Beach. True to its name, Lincoln Road is a pedestrian road that runs east-west parallel between 16th and 17th Street in Miami Beach. Complete with shops, restaurants, galleries, and other businesses, Lincoln Road extends east to the Atlantic ocean and west to Alton road. Featuring well known retailers such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Bonwit Tellers, and even Cadillac, Lincoln road is commonly associated with modern Miami architecture, designer boutiques, and its newly renovated state-of-the-art multiplex cinema.

Sunset Place

The Shops at Sunset Place is an outdoor shopping mall in South Miami at the intersection of South Dixie Highway and Red Road. From the Disney Store, Victoria Secret, AMC movie theaters…you name it, Sunset Place delivers it. The best part about the mall is that there are always deals to be taken advantage of. A versatile location that embodies all that is great about the South-Miami lifestyle, The Shops at Sunset Place offer dining, shopping, and state-of-the-art entertainment.

Aventura Mall

Shop, Shopping Mall, Store

Aventura Mall Hero Imagesmall
The Aventura Mall is a massive and upscale shopping mall in Aventura, Florida, a northern suburb of Miami. Owning the title of the largest conventional shopping center in Florida and the fifth largest mall in America, Aventura Mall is replete with everything that a good mall needs: a food hall, boutiques by the dozens, and loads of fascinating characters. Shops such as Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, and Macy’s are just three of the big-name shops that anchor the Aventura Mall and attract millions of visitors each year. Don’t miss the Aventura Farmers Market on the lower level every weekend.

The Falls

Shop, Store

This is certainly one of the most scenic and creatively designed malls on our list. The Falls gets its name from its famous 850,000 gallon waterscape that flows through the center of it. Officially, The Falls is the country’s largest open-air mall, featuring large pools of water, palm trees and tropical flowers that give this shopping destination an aura of tropical paradise. The Falls is the site of both the first Bloomingdale’s and the first Apple Store in the state of Florida.

Dolphin Mall

Shop

Dolphin Mall is technically not located in proper Miami, but is too big and too popular among Miami residents to be omitted from this guide. There are over 240 retail outlets and name-brand discounters that serve up a grand variety of food, clothing, and entertainment options for the whole family.
