Miami is known as the playground of the rich, so naturally it can get pretty expensive. But it’s also a huge city with plenty to do so worry not, you don’t need money to buy you love. Here’s some inspiration on where to take your love interest without blowing up your wallet.

1. Picnic on Key Biscayne

Fill a basket with bites and rosé and head over to Crandon Park on Key Biscayne. The white sandy beach and turquoise water is the ideal setting for a laid-back and romantic date.

Watch an indie film at the Cosford Cinema

Show your date that you’re not so “basic” by taking them to see a film noir! The Cosford Cinema at the University of Miami showcases some indie and foreign films and offers a combo of popcorn and soda for $5. Also cheap is the Coral Gables Cinema – every Saturday night after 11pm, indie films are only five bucks.

Stroll along Miracle Mile

The pedestrian-friendly street of Miracle Mile is a quaint spot in the suburbs of Coral Gables with plenty to do. Browse Books & Books just around the corner, or stop for lattes in a cute coffee shop, like Crema. The European-style streets in the vicinity have a relaxed vibe to walk and talk and get to know your potential partner.

2. Swim at Matheson Hammock Park

This hidden gem has a jaw-dropping view of the city and a very unique feature – a man-made atoll pool which is flushed naturally with the tidal waves of Biscayne Bay. Enjoy a swim, or go kayaking along the bay or in the mangroves. Entrance to Matheson Hammock Park is just $5 per vehicle, but you can bike through for no charge and enjoy the trails!

If you’re more into jazz, the Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami holds jazz concerts every last Friday of the month where admission requires a small donation.

Munch on some funky foods while you take in the art scene at Wynwood. Every Tuesday, a mass of food trucks gather round so you can pick and choose from your favorites – all you need is about $20.
