Practice letting go and giving in to the giggles at these five chortle-loving comedy clubs spread throughout Hollywood.

The Laugh Factory

The Laugh Factory: a name so popular it really doesn’t need an introduction. Starting with legendary comedians like George Carlin, Dave Chappelle, Robin Williams, and too many more to count, this comedy club has produced, and continues to produce, some of the best comedians in the country and the world. Take part in the fun at one of their next shows, and try not to spit out any drinks during the jokes.

The Comedy Store

With a mix of the famous and the up-and-coming, The Comedy Store is the place to be for a good stomach-aching laugh. It’s located on the Sunset Strip, and proudly boasts a long history there and in the comedy business. Plan for a show in one of three showrooms – The Original Room, The Main Room, and The Belly Room – or just stop by and watch one of their surprise acts.

Improv Comedy Club

Although it started small in NYC, The Improv Comedy Club is one of the premiere stages for live comedy throughout the United States. The Hollywood location has played a major role in film, television, and CD recordings, a recent example of which is the movie Funny People. Check out Improv to see currently popular comedians, such as Lachlan Patterson, Fahim Anwar, Kaley Cuoco, and many more.

iO West Theater

What do Amy Poehler, Danny Pudi, Jason Sudeikis, and Tina Fey have in common? Aside from the perfect hair, teeth, and skin that all celebrities have, they all studied at iO West Theater, a school and comedy club for performers and writers alike. In addition to comedy shows, the theater puts on musicals and festivals at the Del Close Theater, the Loft, and the Main Stage. Crack open a drink from the bar and prepare to crack up at iO.

The Second City

“If I was 20 years old I would sign up for classes at Second City or iO – that’s, like, the ultimate life I wish I lived.” -Judd Apatow. Another school and comedy club that catches the eyes and ears of Hollywood is The Second City. First opened in Chicago as a small cabaret theater, Second City exploded in the next few years, and made several debuts on SNL and NBC. Its unique style and creative improvisational performances have made it one of the most influential comedy theaters in the world.
