iO West Theater

What do Amy Poehler, Danny Pudi, Jason Sudeikis, and Tina Fey have in common? Aside from the perfect hair, teeth, and skin that all celebrities have, they all studied at iO West Theater, a school and comedy club for performers and writers alike. In addition to comedy shows, the theater puts on musicals and festivals at the Del Close Theater, the Loft, and the Main Stage. Crack open a drink from the bar and prepare to crack up at iO.

The Second City

“If I was 20 years old I would sign up for classes at Second City or iO – that’s, like, the ultimate life I wish I lived.” -Judd Apatow. Another school and comedy club that catches the eyes and ears of Hollywood is The Second City. First opened in Chicago as a small cabaret theater, Second City exploded in the next few years, and made several debuts on SNL and NBC. Its unique style and creative improvisational performances have made it one of the most influential comedy theaters in the world.
