Disneyland may be Anaheim’s biggest attraction, but the city’s large convention center and professional hockey and baseball teams also draw a significant number of visitors each year. Whatever your reasons for coming, make sure you explore the city’s local food and bar scene, which will be all the sweeter if enjoyed from a great hotel. Be sure to reserve one of our picks of the best hotels in Anaheim – bookable with Culture Trip.

Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, for all the pools

The newest of the Disney hotels, Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is the most luxurious Anaheim hotel option, with a matching price tag. With its own entrance to the Disney California Adventure Park, it’s ideal for those looking to maximize their mouse experience: there’s even an option to go for a 2mi (3km) power-walk through the park at 6am before it opens. The rooms are designed with that Disney attention to detail: above the bed, each room has a mural of an orange tree with Chip ‘n’ Dale hiding in the branches. There are also several outdoor pools that cater to kids and adults. The Redwood pool is replete with a 90ft (27m) water slide, while the Mariposa pool has a whirlpool spa as well as private cabanas available for rent.

Hotel Pepper Tree, for a longer layover

Founded by two Aussies, Hotel Pepper Tree is modeled after the apartment-style hotels that are common on Australia’s East Coast. As such, all rooms at this Anaheim hotel include kitchens equipped with a full-size fridge, stove, microwave and basic utensils — ideal for longer stays if you don’t want to eat out every night. There’s also a heated outdoor pool with an adjacent barbecue area. While close to both Knott’s Berry Farm and Disneyland, they are not within walking distance, so guests staying here will probably want to rent a car.

Hotel Indigo Anaheim, for a crowd-pleaser

Hotel Indigo Anaheim’s location is ideal for both business travelers and Disneyland visitors. It’s about a 15-minute walk to both Disneyland and the convention center. The Anaheim GardenWalk, an outdoor shopping and dining area, is also adjacent to the hotel. One of IHG’s boutique hotel brands, Hotel Indigo has a modern vibe throughout its 104 rooms. It also contains a pool and fitness center.

Disneyland Hotel, for keeping the theme

Located right near Downtown Disney, the Disneyland Hotel is also just a short walk from both of the amusement parks. The hotel’s three towers – Adventure, Fantasy and Frontier – reference Disneyland’s original three lands in both name and decor. Like the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, the Disney Hotel has its own themed pools, water slides and Disney touches – but with a more accessible price tag. Four restaurants are on-site (including Goofy’s Kitchen with character appearances), plus a tiki bar for after-dark cocktails.

Ayres Hotel Anaheim, for sports fans

In addition to being just a shuttle ride away from Disneyland, Ayres Hotel is walking distance from both the Honda Center (where the Anaheim Ducks play) and Angel Stadium (where, you guessed it, the Angels play). The interior decor has a European aesthetic reflected in the lobby’s fireplace area, as well as in the mahogany armoires and handcrafted wooden beds found in the hotel’s 133 rooms. There is also a heated outdoor pool, fitness area and a complimentary American breakfast. Perfect if you plan to explore beyond the Disney parks during your stay.

With LA just a short drive away, the Anaheim Marriott is the easiest way to see everything the area has to offer. The convenient location and the reliable hotel chain make this place a predictably good stay.

The Anaheim Hotel has boldly named itself after the city, and thankfully, it’s a property locals can be proud of. Only a few paces from Disneyland, your kids will have a blast even when they’re not at the park. It’s mostly about the pool at the Anaheim Hotel: it’s the largest outdoor swimming pool in the area.
