Culture Trip's Guide to Scoring Black Friday Travel Deals
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, the promise of Black Friday (and Cyber Monday) deals loom closer. From predictions on hotel discounts to scoring budget flights; Culture Trip has you covered.
How to score discounted hotel stays
According to DealNews,Black Friday and Cyber Monday shoppers can expect a third of travel deals to come from hotel brands. Second only to flights, accommodation is the largest vacation expense, so snagging a good deal can help shave hundreds off that upcoming trip.
With most Black Friday discounts coming from large hotel chains, DealNewsrecommends keeping an eye on four or five star hotels. Based on past Black Friday deals, DealNews predicts Starwood and Hyatt hotel stays will be discounted 30 to 60 percent off, while off-strip Las Vegas hotels will be offered for under $20 a night!
Viceroy Hotels is expected to have a stellar Cyber Monday deal, which will allow guests to have one full week to access savings in the most exclusive and high-end destinations across the globe. According to a press release, Viceroy Hotel Cyber Monday deals will include: 40 percent off stays at Vicery hotels in New York, Rivera Maya, San Francisco and more.
Hotel booking sites—such as Expedia.com—are expected to shave dollars off of hotel stays; while Black Friday is also a good day to snag cheaper all-inclusive hotel packages.
Finding affordable airfare
Finding cheap flights during the holidays can be a difficult task, so knowing how to take advantage of Black Friday’s travel deals is key. Second to hotel discounts, airlines will offer cheaper airfare rates in the immediate days following Thanksgiving.
“Look for domestic flights starting at $20 each way, with deals available from almost every airline,” DealNews suggests. “Last year Frontier offered the lowest fares, but Alaska Airlines, JetBlue, Spirit, Southwest, and United all offered domestic roundtrip airfare for under $100.”
Skyscanner also has stellar travel deals with roundtrip flights from major U.S. cities starting at $200 round trip to major European destinations, including Paris, Amsterdam and Frankfurt. Likewise, you can find Skyscanner Cyber Monday travel deals on flights to Hong Kong and other popular cities for less than $300 round trip—a 60 percent discount!
You’re likely to save big on domestic flights within the United States, although international travel can still see discounts. For Mexico and South America, fares are anticipated to start at around $100 per roundtrip. For Europe, flights are predicted to start at around $200 for a roundtrip, while roundtrip flights to Asia can be snagged for as little as $500—now that’s a steal! When shopping for Black Friday deal flights, just be wary of the timing of your vacation as these flight deals are almost always contingent on specific travel dates.
Cyber Monday & editor’s choice deals
While most airfare and hotel deals are expected to start popping up on Black Friday, DealNewsargues that Cyber Monday is the best day to look for editor’s deals and travel discounts. According to DealNews, the majority of editor’s travel deals will be available on Monday, while 14 percent are anticipated to be last-minute deals.
The key to making the most of Black Friday and Cyber Monday is flexibility as most of these travel deals will be discount flights and stays that are during off-peak travel times. If you’re hoping to book a cheap flight for Christmas, Black Friday may not prove easy; but our guide to saving on airfare can help you navigate the search for affordable airfare the rest of the year.
