The famous American photographer recently changed her Instagram profile to public and it’s beyond revelatory, lifting the mask on creative inspiration of a relatively private contemporary art figure.

Will the real Cindy Sherman please stand up? For the past four decades, Cindy Sherman has put herself in front of the camera for the sake of art but never as herself, rather in a host of different guises to confront the construction of identity and the artifice of photography.
She’s taken on the personas of film characters, morphed from the classic blonde bombshell into ageing high society ladies, paid homage to Hans Bellmer and played the clown, all the while retaining a fairly low public profile. Now the New York-based photographer has made her Instagram account public, so not only can you take a peek at her daily life, but also catch a glimpse of some of her new creations. Suddenly, taking a selfie at the doctors has the potential to be a study for a new work of art.
Below are just some of the amazing conceptual portraits Sherman has posted, as well as some flashbacks to personal family photographs and ‘behind the scenes’ shots of recent projects.
Am I cured doctor?
