The 5th Avenue is an iconic spot in Playa del Carmen that gathers the main malls, boutiques, stores, bars and night clubs of the city. We’ve prepared a guide for you to find the best spots to buy typical Mexican souvenirs, clothes, jewelry, and more. Take a look.

1. Quinta Alegría

In Mexico, shopping is more than just buying, it’s actually a whole experience; and Quinta Alegría is a perfect example of that. Find international brands such as American Eagle, Forever 21, Bebe, Victoria’s Secret and Harley Davidson while listening to live music. The mall is constantly surprising customers with performances of street artists, classic movies, and human statues, creating a festive atmosphere with the cheerfulness that’s a feature of the Mexican Caribbean. You might find it interesting to see how the clothes from worldwide brands are in the Riviera Maya.

The guayabera is an iconic and traditional Mexican outfit worn by men on special celebrations, important events, and beach weddings. The attire is originally from Veracruz and Yucatan, but in Playa del Carmen you can get one in DeXorden store, which sells these classic menswear pieces in many different colors. The store also sells nice beach dresses and clothes for women made of fresh fabrics, with feminine and sexy designs. To complement the outfits, there are also classic and stylish hats for all tastes, and jewelry made of shakira.

3. Narcisa Boutique

This store was founded by two female entrepreneurs living an adventure in the Caribbean, doing what they love the most: designing. Narcisa is focused on curious, challenging, adventurous women, for whom they have stylish basics in cotton, silk, and lace, forming unique garments. Enjoy the chic décor, find fashionable clothes by Mexican designers, such as Caravana Montaecristo, Lorena Saravia, Yakampot, and Gala is Love. Lynda Palau’s designs and pieces are unique, so you will be wearing exclusive clothes on the streets of the 5th Avenue.

6. Liverpool

Liverpool is a popular store in Mexico, offering clothes (for both men and women), fragrances, accessories, and home appliances of a good quality, as well as international brands. Check out a wide variety of styles: from casual to relaxed, and even cocktail and black tie, all at reasonable prices. If you are shopping with your children, there is a play area where they can hang out while you are trying on clothes. There is also a restaurant with really delicious international food for when you need a break to recharge your energy.

7. Shalom

Store, Shop

Shalom has hippie-chic clothes and jewelry to help you stand out from the typical fashion crowd. The colors, textures and fringes are made to make you look original, and one thing is sure: you will look sexy. The popularity of this boutique has reached Tulum and Holbox, where new stores are opening to bring the boho-chic style to the streets of the Mexican Caribbean. Look for the green carpet on the wall of the store, and you’ll know you’re there.
