There are a host of restaurants which serve traditional Jamaican breakfast, like ackee and saltfish, as well as international classics, like pancakes and crêpes. Cafe Blue is the most popular breakfast spot among locals and foreigners in the Kingston area. Located in Sovereign Centre, Irish Town, and in the Norman Manley International Airport, Cafe Blue serves a combination of hot and cold coffee beverages, including espresso, cappuccino, and lattes (all made with the popular Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee), as well as black and green herbal teas. They also offer a variety of breakfast options, including pancakes, omelets, paninis, sandwiches, and wraps. On the menu as well are fresh pastries, including their famous espresso cappuccino cheesecake, potato pudding, banana bread, macaroons, and a unique Jamaican bread pudding.

Tea Tree Crêperie & Treehouse Pub

Tea Tree Crêperie & Treehouse Pub is a new Cordon-Bleu-style breakfast and brunch spot in Kingston and the first of its kind in Jamaica. Tea Tree’s specialty is the delicious, sweet and savory crêpes, but of course, they offer an incredibly varied menu that includes classic breakfasts, gluten-free as well as vegan delights, desserts, quiche, salads, Blue Mountain coffee drinks, and blended and speciality drinks including the popular mint lemonade. Crêpe crème brûlée and pavlova are also Tea Tree favorites.

Tastee is an important part of Jamaica food culture and a common breakfast place for many locals across the island. Over the years, Tastee has expanded its menu to not just offer delicious and internationally-renowned Jamaican patties, but also classic Jamaican breakfast combos such as ackee and saltfish, stew chicken, callaloo and many other traditional Jamaican meals. Tastee also offers freshly baked pastries, sandwiches, teas, and a variety of Jamaican dishes for lunch.

Brew'd Awakenings

Just next door to Tastee Liguanea, the Tastee Group opened a little coffee haven called Brew’d Awakenings. It offers fruit, Greek salad, panini, wraps, pancakes, waffles, and sub sandwiches. You can get all of these with chicken, ham, and fish. Or you may try the egg and bacon wrapper or french toast with eggs and bacon. All of the pastries are made by Tastee, and they make everything from cheesecakes to cookies. The café, inspired by great moments (which you can see on the walls), has a variety of coffees and teas to appeal to all your desires—hot or cold, caffeinated or caffeine-free.

Devon House Cafe

The Devon House Cafe, located on the historical compound of Devon House in Kingston, offers a diversity of delicious specialty beverages such as the Devon shake, coffee cocktails, smoothies, and slushies. All of these are complemented by deli delights such as omelets, crunch wraps, paninis, and salads. Devon House provides the perfect atmosphere for breakfast and brunch with its outside seating area and cool, relaxed environment. Just next door to the café, guests can try the famous Devon House patties at the bakery or the delicious Devon House ice cream.

Besides the elegance, relaxed ambiance and modern décor that the upscale Fromage Gourmet is known for, the restaurant located on Hillcrest Avenue is also known for its impressive breakfast menu. Food lovers flock to Fromage as soon as it’s open for bagels, oatmeal, paninis, or pancakes. Fromage is known for its red velvet pancakes, hardly found anywhere else in Kingston. Breakfast is served with a range of coffee beverages, mimosas and punches, or natural juices. Fromage’s second location, Fromage Brasserie doesn’t serve breakfast (yet) but the setup of the restaurant makes it the perfect place to grab brunch.

Cannonball Café

The Cannonball Café is one of the largest coffee houses in Jamaica with four locations in Kingston. This cozy café has breakfast specials from 7-10 a.m., with a variety of meals, including whole wheat omelet wraps, oatmeal porridge, pancakes, waffles, and traditional Jamaican breakfast dishes. The café offers a mix of hot beverages that include cappuccinos, moccacinos, macchiatos, and espressos. Cold beverages on order include iced coffee and iced chocolate. Its lunch-to-evening menu includes quiches, soups, hamburgers, made-to-order pizzas, wraps, and sandwiches.

Sonia's Homestyle Cooking & Natural Juices

Sonia’s Homestyle Cooking is your one stop for an authentic Jamaican breakfast or brunch. Their impressive menu includes ackee and saltfish, ackee and corn pork, salt mackerel rundown, oxtail and beans, stewed peas, curry goat, and their famous fried chicken. To complete the breakfast meals, they offer an array of natural juices that suit the needs of those who want delicious and healthy beverages.

Pita Grill

Located inside Orchid Village Plaza, Pita Grill is a 24-hour “grab and go” destination that’s bound to find favor with those in need of a quick, nutritious, and tasty bite. The 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. breakfast menu is packed with continental breakfast treats including pancakes, sliders, french toast, and wraps made of egg, cheese, bacon, and/or plantain. Beverages you can grab include a range of smoothies, milkshakes, juices, and hot and cold coffee beverages.

Jamaican Liquour Warehouse

Don’t let the name fool you; the Jamaican Liquor Warehouse is not all about wine. This bistro and bar is the newest and most elegant location for breakfast and brunch in Kingston. The breakfast menu includes croque madame, waffle sandwiches, french toast, steak and omelets, and many other delicious international meals. They have a variety of other dishes including pasta, salads, wings, and dessert, just in case you don’t make it in time for breakfast.
