The Best Pet-Friendly Hotels to Book in Calgary, Canada

It may be nicknamed Cowtown, but Calgary is packed with pet-friendly hotels should you prefer to bring along furry friends instead. Not just for cowboys and the Calgary Stampede, Calgary is an active, outdoor city with people running, cycling, rolling and walking — often accompanied by their pups — throughout the city’s many green spaces. Several hotels welcome pets, though do limit their size to a max of 75lbs (34kg). A few of Calgary’s pet-friendly hotels have pet-sitting options for you if you want some time to explore the city without your four-legged friend. Check them out and book your fave on Culture Trip.

The Westin Calgary, for snuggly nights

Hotel

You can bring two pets up to 40lbs (18kg) to stay with you at The Westin, with no additional charge – though you’ll need to sign a waiver in case of damage. Famous for its Heavenly Bed® for humans, The Westin also has a round pet-sized Heavenly Dog Bed® for dogs. It’s as cloudlike and soft as your duvet, so perhaps you won’t have to share yours with any pooch. Food and water bowls plus a special floor mat are supplied too, and you can chill any special treats in your mini-fridge. This downtown hotel is a couple of blocks from both Bow River and Prince’s Island with all of their pathways – so get out and stretch those legs. Staff can help with short-term dog-sitting if needed.

Fairmont Palliser, for luxe pampering

Hotel

Downtown’s Fairmont Palliser doesn’t have a Fairmont canine ambassador at the moment – but the luxury hotel welcomes pets. For a charge of $25/night plus the signing of a pet damage waiver (guide dogs are exempt), two pets per room may stay. If you leave your pets alone, they need to be in a crate or kennel. Right next door to the Palliser is The Petropolitan pet daycare and spa, and the hotel often offers Pampered at the Pawlliser packages. You’ll get a pet bed, bowls, and a pet-friendly Barkuterie board of snacks. Pets can even spend a half-day getting a brush-out and massage while you enjoy Calgary leash-free – or pop into the spa at the Fairmont for your own massage and eucalyptus steam.

Le Germain Calgary, for a prime location

This boutique hotel welcomes one pet per room and provides a bed, water and bowls, treats – even a leash if needed. Le Germain’s pet policies keep rooms clean and damage-free: a $30 rigorous-cleaning fee for every stay, your agreement to cover any irreparable damages to furniture or carpets, and a $200 fine if you leave your pet in your room unattended. The concierge can help with pet-sitting services. Only some rooms are pet-friendly, so book well in advance. This downtown hotel is a block away from the leafy Olympic Plaza for walkies.

Calgary Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel, for ultimate convenience

Chain Hotel

Flying with your pet? The Calgary Airport Marriott welcomes up to two pets staying in the room with you. To make sure everything’s ready for the next guest, there’s a cleaning fee of $35 per night to a max of $70 per stay and you’ll need to sign a damage waiver. It’s OK to leave your pet alone for short periods, provided they won’t bark or yowl and disturb your neighbors. Pack your own food and water bowls. The hotel is inside the airport, so you and your pup can take advantage of YYC’s three pet-relief areas: outside doors 1 and 17 and, for when you’re flying out, gate B34 in the domestic terminal.

Hyatt Regency Calgary, for unparalleled facilities

Chain Hotel

Across the street from Olympic Plaza park, a few blocks from the riverfront trails, this five-star 355-room downtown hotel will provide your pet with a bed and bowls for their stay. The modern rooms have soothing prairie colors. For six nights and less, the pet fee is $50 and then rises to $100+ to give your room a deep clean on departure. Canines need to be under 75lbs (34kg) and this goes for combined weight if you’re bringing along two. If your pup likes to run while you bike, the hotel has free seasonal rentals. Humans get to enjoy the luxe spa, lap pool, whirlpool and steam room.

The Westley Hotel, for spoiling for pet

Chain Hotel

Opened in summer 2021, this office-building-turned-hotel has a prime pup location right across the street from a park, four blocks from the Bow River, and walking distance from a pet store if you’ve forgotten anything. Ask the front desk for doggie bags, water bowls and/or a dog bed – they frequently have treats for both pets and their owners, too. Bathrooms have a rainforest shower, which might convince your pooch that bathtime is just like a walk in the rain. The Westley’s pet policy asks you not to leave your pet alone in your room for long periods of time so that no one gets anxious – leaving your room number with the front desk is stress-relieving for all. Service animals with ID are exempt from the per-stay pet fee of $75.

Sheraton Cavalier Calgary Hotel, for easy gold access

Chain Hotel

The Sheraton Cavalier is about 20 minutes south of the airport near two golf courses. You can bring up to two pets with a maximum combined weight of 60lbs (27kg). Bring your own bowls and anything else pets will need. Per stay, there’s a $25 pet fee and you’ll need to sign a waiver that you won’t leave your pets unattended. There’s green space around the hotel; it gets the job done but is probably more appealing for pups than for their humans given the busy intersection. Though doggos can’t join, you can tire out your kids on the pool’s two large waterslides while you supervise from one of the two hot tubs.

The Underwood, for morning yoga

Apartment

The Underwood is a Victoria Park property of one- and two-bedroom apartments with kitchens for a minimum two-night stay. Each has a private balcony, some overlooking Haultain Park should your pet like to keep an eye on the neighbors. For you, there’s a fitness facility, yoga studio, lounge, and 30th-floor rooftop barbeque. The First Street Market food hall with its outdoor patio is right downstairs and it’s a 10-minute walk to the Calgary Tower downtown. When you submit your reservation request, let them know you’re bringing a pet – the fee is $150 for stays less than a week, higher for longer stays. If you don’t follow the building’s pet rules, you could be charged a $500 fee plus the cost of any damages – so be on your best behavior!
