Where to Kayak and Paddle on Prince Edward Island
Paddling through clear warms waters, taking in the stunning rugged coastline, and being joined by seals and porpoises—not a bad way to spend the day, right? It’s one thing to experience PEI by land, but it’s a whole other level when you get to experience it from the sea.
To help you get the most out of your trip, we’ve put together a list of the best spots around the island to enjoy your paddling adventure.
North-Central Coast
Forest, Park
Prince Edward Island’s north-central coast is an ideal place for visitors to hit the water because of its central location, beautiful scenery, and calm waters. The nearest town is North Rustico, located just next to the tourist hub of Cavendish. Here, you’ll get a beautiful view of the coastline, which alternates from the red cliffs, white sand beaches, and the forest that makes up Prince Edward Island National Park.
Prince Edward Island National Park
Park
The park is a great spot for beginners because you have the option of paddling in its various ponds. Of course, there’s also the option to paddle in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, which will take you along the route mentioned above.
North Lake
Enjoy the calm waters of North Lake, where you’ll get to experience a taste of the province’s interior. Note that private cottages own the majority of the launch points, so visitors will need to launch from the marina.
Charlottetown
