National Art Gallery of The Bahamas
Situated in the heart of Nassau, the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas (NAGB) is the premier arts institution of the region. The museum is housed at the historic Villa Doyle mansion built in the 1860s. The museum’s mission is to showcase the finest artwork created by Bahamians and, in doing so, it houses the widest selection of paintings, sculptures, textiles, photographs and much more. The museum also hosts various art events including workshops and community projects.
Eddie Minnis & Family Art Gallery
Known for his paintings that showcase the culture and beauty of the Bahamas, Eddie Minnis is one of the most talented Bahamian artists. Minnis and his two daughters – fellow artists Nicole and Roshanne – opened the gallery in Abaco to house their wonderful art. The three painters, along with Roshanne’s husband Ritchie Eyma, come together to highlight the most beautiful aspects of the Bahamas.
Antonius Roberts Studio and Art Gallery at Hillside House
In the Bahamas, Antonius Roberts is the most noted artist and sculptor of recent times. The influential national icon houses most of his paintings and sculptures at the Hillside House, a 19th-century mansion in downtown Nassau that was transformed into his own studio and gallery. The art space is also a popular place for small concerts, book signings and small craft market events.
Wenshua Art Gallery
Generations of artists in Exuma longed for a gallery on the island where they could showcase the best of their artwork. The Wenshua Art Gallery, founded by proprietor and artist Wendy Cartwright, provides a space for them to do just that. Art at the Wenshua gallery ranges from landscape paintings inspired by the pristine island to driftwood sculptures. Many of the artists featured at the gallery are native to Exuma.
Princess Street Gallery
Located by the harbour in Dunmore Town, the picturesque Princess Street Gallery features some of the Bahamas’ most talented artists that have created a range of work, including watercolours, oils, acrylics, photo, etchings, landscapes, and portraits. Many of the work is inspired by the pink sand, turquoise sea, Victorian-styled cottages and people of Harbour Island. The gallery is located in the centre of Harbour Island, making it the perfect place to go for some sight-seeing.
Popop Studios
Popop Studios was founded by painter John Cox, one of Nassau’s best artists. The colourful gallery, located in Nassau’s historical district of Chippingham, features a wide selection of work from a select group of painters, sculptors and photographers based both locally and abroad. Many locals and tourists visit flock to the Popup Studios to immerse themselves in its lively atmosphere and beautiful environment.
