Via Ferrata

Located in Ras Al Khaimah and a drive of a bit over an hour and a half from Sharjah, this 1km route along the mountains is a must-do for anyone who loves adventure. The exhilarating experience includes three zip lines and is located in on the UAE’s highest mountain, Jebel Jais.

For an outing which marries religion, culture and one of the UAE’s main attractions, head to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. About a two-hour drive from Sharjah, it is one of the most beautiful in the UAE, with pure marble walls and colorful floral patterns made of semi-precious stones. A quick day trip to the capital can be educational, as the mosque is the perfect place to learn more about Islam and the culture of the UAE.

Ferrari World

If the thought of a trip to Dubai Parks and Resorts isn’t thrilling enough, try Ferrari World and ride the world’s fastest rollercoaster. An 80-minute journey by road from Sharjah, and you’ll get a chance to ride Formula Rossa, the record-breaking rollercoaster which accelerates to 240km/h in a mere five seconds. In this theme park, visitors can also ride Ferrari simulators, check out exhibitions and eat in one of several food and beverage outlets.

Fujairah

This day trip is a bit longer than the others, taking around two hours and a half to get to from Sharjah. That’s because Fujairah is the only one of the seven Emirates located on the east coast of the country, making it more distant than the rest. However, this is the ultimate day trip, offering a mix of seaside activities, including snorkeling. The Emirate has a singularly stunning landscape of beaches and mountains, and the sights alone are worth taking the trip for.
