Dublin‘s busy shopping streets cater to all needs, tastes and desires. Ubiquitous American and European chain stores are well-represented here, but for those seeking something a little more special than the familiar options of the high street, a first-rate selection of premium boutiques are more than happy to provide alternatives.

1. Costume Dublin

Shop

Founded in the late 1990s by the three stylish Tucker sisters and their mother Billie, Costume on Dublin’s Castle Market remains a family-run boutique with an appreciation of the finer things. Stocking luxuriant labels like Isabel Marant and Rouland Mouret, this fashionista-favourite deserves its loyal following and is celebrated for their stellar customer service.

2. Brown Thomas

Store

To many people, luxury shopping in Dublin means only one thing: Brown Thomas department store. The first port of call for haute couture in the city, their flagship store is the jewel in the crown of one of the city’s two main shopping streets, Grafton Street. Across four avid floors, shoppers will find individual boutiques for Armani, Balenciaga, Cartier, Hermès and Louis Vuitton, to name but a few. Brown Thomas also curate a selection of the best of independent Irish design at their annual CREATE installation: This year’s selection includes Teatum Jones and Margaret O’Connor.

4. Jennifer Rothwell

Also in the Powerscourt Centre, Jennifer Rothwell’s flagship boutique will appeal to any shopper who appreciates fine fabrics and sophisticated tailoring. Born in New York but raised in Dublin, prior to establishing her own label, she worked in the US with designers like Norma Kamali and Calvin Klein. Armed with copious knowledge and a boatload of ideas, she returned to Ireland and set up on her own, winning the Brown Thomas Designer Award at Dublin Fashion Week shortly after. She now works from a local studio in the city where all her collections are produced.

In this sartorial sanctuary, you will find fresh pieces by elegant Irish and international designers such as Simone Rocha and Rick Owens, as well as discovering newer names in fashion, like Sian Jacobs, who creates covetable cashmere knitwear and scarves.

6. Seagreen

Store

With an original in Monkstown and a sister store in Ranelagh, Seagreen has no difficulty luring fashion-conscious customers out of the city centre. Representing big names in designer fashion like Cacharel, Rag & Bone and Paige Denim, this luxury fashion and lifestyle boutique also stocks Maison Trudon candles, Acqua di Parma perfume and Yogandha bath and body oils, made in Ireland.
