A Gin Garden Has Opened in Liverpool
Set in Liverpool‘s bustling Baltic Triangle, amongst a number of restaurants, bars, venues and creative spaces, is the Botanical Garden; a quirky retreat for gin lovers that is set away from the hectic side of the city.
Situated down a quaint street with the overdrop of Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral is the city’s only garden dedicated solely to gin. It sounds great, doesn’t it? Oh, it is…
The Botanical Garden manages to maintain its quirks from first impression; the Cuban-style flamboyant colours flourish on its entrance, which ironically is a door made out of many doors. The quirks continue on entry to the garden, with an arrangement of flowers in large metal oil drums, walls laden in NYC-style graffiti and rustic furniture. The hotpot of cultural influences don’t end with the décor either.
As for the most important element of any gin garden, (the gin, of course!) you’re spoiled for choice here. Regularly experimenting and heralding their favourite tipples in a Gin of the Week, mixologists combine a number of spirits with different types of teas, mixers, herbs and flavours to produce some of the most sought after cocktails. Tip: try the New Bird Cooler and the Strawberry and Mint Collins.

If that wasn’t enough, there’s also Morroccan food on offer from street food trader Ta’amiya — we told you it was a cultural hotpot — and the garden even hosts DJs and occasional live music on weekends when the weather picks up.
Like what you read? You’ll need to act fast as the Botanical Garden is open throughout summer, but is scheduled to close in September or October, weather dependent. Don’t worry though; if you are in Liverpool over summer and the British weather decides to act like, well, its usual self, the greenhouse is armed with heaters and often stocked with blankets and hot water bottles! Dogs are welcome too. Can this place get any better?
