The industrial city of Zaporizhia is a good destination for gastronomes, thanks to the myriad of fine restaurants, especially when it comes to Ukrainian and Italian cuisine. Here are the ten best spots in town.
Travelling to Zaporizhia? The first thing to do is to try Ukrainian cuisine at Korchma. The restaurant’s interior is designed like a traditional local hut and is decorated with old household items and rushnyky (embroidered clothing). The menu consists of all the popular dishes: borscht, vareniki (a kind of filled dumplings), deruny (potato pancakes) and more. But the most important feature at Korchma is being greeted with a generous welcome.
The restaurant Vodogray is a part of the hotel and entertainment complex of the same name, located on the banks of the Dnipro River. It is a multifaceted venue, where everything creates a favourable environment for a business meeting or a festive atmosphere of a birthday celebration. In addition, the restaurant is perfect for spending the day with your family. In terms of food, here you’ll find a variety of Ukrainian and European dishes.
Veranda is a cosy restaurant serving up home-style cuisine and featuring the best of Ukrainian and European food, not to mention the delicious desserts served here. The bright interior transports you immediately back to the days of childhood: vintage furniture, lots of green plants and a parrot tweeting in a cage. In the summer, you can enjoy the beautiful view of the lake while sitting on the spacious terrace.
One Gogi is a fast and casual restaurant. It offers dishes drawn from Georgian cuisine. Khachapuri (cheese-filled bread) and khinkali (dumplings) are cooked in the open kitchen and taste incredible, especially when accompanied by a glass of chacha (Georgian grape vodka). It is a family-friendly restaurant, where you can come for a cosy dinner and enjoy dishes made with love. In addition, a separate room can be booked for special events.
Nothing attracts your attention more than the Aristocrate’s massive building punctuated with columns, executed in an ancient style. The restaurant is full of romance and refinement. During the spring-summer season, the staff opens the terrace that boasts a beautiful fountain. In the evening, the best pianists perform tender piano music, while guests savour Ukrainian and European cuisine. Remember to try the speciality at Aristocrate — mussels.
Monica Bellucci is an exquisite restaurant and an ideal venue for a romantic dinner. Being located in the picturesque part of town, it resembles sunny Italy (Monica Bellucci‘s place of birth). The cuisine served is European and Italian with a large choice of salads and main courses. Monica Bellucci has its own confectionery, so do not hesitate to finish your dinner with a decadent piece of cake. The wine list will also surprise you by offering the best picks from Italy, France, and New Zealand.
A small but homey restaurant serving Italian and Mediterranean food, Bellini is another spot to visit in Zaporizhia. Delicious pasta, tasty pizza, grilled dishes and classic desserts constitute the main part of the menu at Bellini. There are also a lot of wines and other alcoholic drinks from which to choose. Of course, a must-try is the signature Bellini cocktail. It’s a nice addition to brunch, weekend lunch or dinner.
Sir Lancelot is a large restaurant that has six dining rooms, designed in a medieval style. It makes a good spot for dinner with friends or for a business lunch with your colleagues. The choice of dishes on the menu is immense, so you will definitely find something to your liking: burgers and fries, pizza, Josper-grilled meat and fish dishes, salads and even Japanese sushi.
At Rozamrin, you can have a good meal at a very reasonable price. The Italian restaurant offers a rich assortment of popular dishes from different regions, as well as wines. All the food here is cooked from fresh and natural ingredients, and the homemade pasta will likely become the best dish you’ve ever tried.
Tibet is located in the very centre of Zaporizhia. The restaurant serves Pan-Asian cuisine: Japanese, Thai and Chinese with fusion elements. The emphasis is on seafood dishes. It is a unique place in the city, where you can try food seasoned with spicy flavours. And the spice level is listed on the menu, so you can make a choice according to your tolerance for spicy foods.
