From the ultimate luxury room with a view to après-ski heaven, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing from these top hotels in Verbier, Switzerland.

Justifiably hailed as one of the world’s most attractive ski resorts, thanks to its panoramic views, Verbier has world-class skiing on its doorstep with more than 400km (250mi) of pistes (or hiking trails in summer) to suit all ski levels, not to mention a wealth of off-piste options. The glamorous French-speaking village is studded with high-end restaurants and chic boutiques, but it’s even more legendary for its lively après-ski scene and celeb-spotting opportunities.

Après-ski aficionados will love this stylish alpine retreat for the signature cocktail bar (the Chalet cocktail – apricot purée and vodka topped with champagne – is the one to try) and legendary Farm nightclub. Hotel guests can bypass queues for easy access to celeb-spotting, using the entrance by reception. The hotel is a visual treat, too, from its white-walled, red-shuttered facade and views of Verbier’s snow-capped peaks to its 39 rooms decked out in jewel tones with brass touches and its stylish staff in elegant Fusalp uniforms.

The W Hotel puts a contemporary twist on traditional Swiss design, one for the style-conscious skiers. Pine brushes marble in its airy, high-end rooms. But this is designed with a sense of humour – lookout for the giant red T-Rex. Its six chalets in Verbier’s pretty centre are ideally located next to the main ski lift, so you can be up the mountain in minutes. Once you’re back, there’s little need to leave, as the hotel has a whopping six restaurants and bars to enjoy – from tapas and sushi to contemporary Swiss cuisine. The phone-phobic will particularly appreciate being able to WhatsApp their room service order instead of picking up the phone.

Hygge fans will love this contemporary take on cosy Swiss chalet style. This four-star boutique hotel has 32 generously sized rooms with subdued lighting, sleek bathrooms and a luxe spa. With its mammoth fireside sofas and comfy armchairs, the lounge bar is the perfect place for whiling away the hours or curling up with a book after a hard day on the mountains. The ski lifts are a 10-minute walk away, but the hotel offers a luxury car service to take you there – or anywhere else you need to go.

Lovers of luxury will be in paradise at Richard Branson’s stunning mountain retreat that’s a mere hop from the main lift station. The five-star lodge is set in a tranquil forested area with spectacular views from each of its nine rooms and boasts the most attentive staff. Understated luxury is the keyword here – from indoor and outdoor hot tubs, pool and gym to the spacious lounge and party room that never closes, complete with pool table, disco ball and a well-stocked bar. Throw in a Michelin star-trained chef who cooks meals to order and a spa therapist, and you really have got it all.

Le Farinet

Party animals will be in their element at the lively Farinet, where dancing on the bar is practically compulsory. You can, quite literally, raise the roof at Verbier’s most central hotel. There’s a daily happy hour, live bands every day, and DJ nights, as well as a sports bar that turns into a nightclub after dark. It may be party central, but the Farinet is actually Verbier’s oldest hotel. Not that you’d know that from its contemporary room design, featuring citrus walls and luxurious soft furnishings.

Le Chalet d'Adrien

Traditionalists will fall in love with this gorgeous five-star hotel that combines all the warmth of a Swiss chalet with the luxury you’d expect from a high-end hotel. Wood is the predominant material both inside and out, while period furniture, real wood fires and touches of red and white add to that traditional Swiss feel. As you’d expect, given its position overlooking Verbier, most of the rooms have spectacular views. Despite its peaceful atmosphere away from the bustle of town, the hotel is just one minute’s walk to the lift station. There’s also a Michelin-star fine-dining restaurant and a pool with glorious views across the mountains.

Explorers will welcome the central location of this four-star hotel with mountain views. It’s right in the centre of town and just a couple of minutes from the ski bus stop. You will love the individual ski lockers and boot-heating facilities, while the mountain concierge service is available to help you get the most out of your stay. The hotel returned to owner management and underwent an extensive refurb in 2020. The rooms, which include some studio apartments with kitchenettes, are elegantly designed in muted shades with sage-coloured furnishings that complement the wood and stone walls.
