Córdoba has a slightly bohemian, alternative ambience about it, but that doesn’t mean it’s lacking in classy boutiques. Whether you’re after a designer swimsuit or a handmade hat, here are the top seven fashion boutiques in this fascinating city.

1. Juana Martin

Store

After winning first prize at 2003’s International Flamenco Fashion Show, Córdoba-born Juana Martin has established herself as one of Spain’s leading fashion designers. Working from her studio in Córdoba, Martin designs bags, shoes, dresses, flamenco attire and wedding dresses in a sophisticated, modern style. Since opening her first store in her hometown in 2009, she has also opened outlets in Marbella and Madrid.

2. Miriñaque Boutique

Miriñaque is situated a good 15-minute walk out of Córdoba’s beautiful historic centre, but fashion lovers won’t mind the extra effort. This is one of the city’s smartest women’s clothing and accessories stores, selling a range of designers in a minimalist, black-and-white themed interior. Prices here aren’t what you could call cheap, but Miriñaque’s offering is high-quality and aimed at customers who don’t mind shelling out a little extra to have the best.

3. Pimkie

Pimkie has branches in many Spanish cities and appeals to fashion lovers who want boutique-style shopping but at affordable prices. The Córdoba branch is situated on the outskirts of the city centre and has a good range of women’s clothing, shoes and accessories suitable for every occasion, from a day on the beach to a fancy party. There’s always a seasonal collection available and often sales of up to 60% off, making it a popular shopping location for locals and visitors.

4. Sombreria de Herederos de J. Rusi

Here’s an entry for the guys as well as the girls: visitors to Córdoba will notice that the sombrero Cordobese (which looks sort of like a flattened-out bowler hat) is worn by locals of both genders during the annual feria and is a piece of attire for which the city is famous. In order to properly blend in, then, pop in to Sombreria de Herederos de J.Rusi and have one made to order out of the highest quality materials.

5. Boutique Nike

Don’t be misled – this is not a branch of the international sportswear label, it’s a small and classy outlet specialising in women’s clothing and accessories. It is particularly good for dresses for every kind of occasion, whether you need something for the first sporting venture of the season or are attending a wedding. Garments by a range of designers are on offer, and new names are always appearing on the shelves.

6. Geox

Shop

Geox is a smart Italian shoe shop – zapateria, to use the wonderful Spanish word – selling footwear for both males and females aged 0 and up. Geox’s sharp, uncluttered interior makes buying shoes as painless as possible for those who dislike the experience, while offering plenty of styles from which to choose for those who actually enjoy it. It’s at the northern end of the city, a good 20-minute walk from the river and the Mosque-Cathedral, which will give you chance to wear in your new shoes on the way back to the attractions.

7. Lorhenna Boutique

Specialising in clothing for younger customers, Lorhenna has a good range of designer accessories and garments on offer in a smart outlet in the centre of Córdoba’s old town. The service is helpful and friendly and Cordoban teenagers like it for its accessible prices and the contemporary style of its clothing. Visitors to Córdoba looking to do a bit of shopping will also be happy to hear it is just across the street from Taberna Salinas, one of the best traditional Andalusian bars and restaurants in town.
