Locations don’t get much better than this adults-only hotel in Menorca a short footbridge from the sugar-white Cala Galdana beach. If you prefer to stay within cocktail-grabbing distance of the hotel, pull up a lounger at the curved pool overlooking the sea or visit the hydrotherapy circuit at the spa. More active types can kayak, dive or join a guided walk around the horseshoe cove and dinky local port.

There’s no chance active adults will be bored at this grand hotel in Menorca close to the beaches of Cala’n Bosch and Son Xoriguer. There’s a shuttle service to historic Ciutadella, the Cami de Cavalls hiking trail is on the doorstep, and the hotel offers all sorts of excursions and watersports. However, no one will judge if you don’t go further than the tranquil pool backed by immaculate gardens, conveniently close to the outstanding wellness centre, which offers yoga lessons, indoor and outdoor pools and even a hairdresser.
