The Trip

When people say ‘the journey is all part of the experience,’ it’s never been more true than it is on your journey up north to Cadaqués. The winding roads around the mountainsides will leave you feeling just a little bit dizzy, but nevertheless amazed by the jaw-dropping scenery. Take time to appreciate the trip, as you’ll get so lost in the awesome views that you might even forget where you were heading in the first place.

The Beach

People come to Cadaqués for all kinds of reasons, but there is no doubt that one of the biggest attractions here is the beach. Although Spain overall is known for fairly good beaches, nothing quite compares to the quaintness of the smooth sand and the blue Mediterranean coming together to form your own little paradise right here. You can also head out about twenty minutes to a place called Cap de Creus, to experience yet another gorgeous beach. Admire the boats on the water as you soak up the sun, meet some French tourists, and perhaps even tan topless!

The Art Scene

Not only is the architecture in Cadaqués spectacular, but it’s important to note that this area has been home, or at least a vacation spot, for many famous artists and writers over the years. Some of these creative legends include Picasso, Joan Miró, Josep Pla, and Salvador Dalí. Dalí even built a house in nearby Portlligat, which is now a museum and a must-see spot while in Cadaqués.

The Castles

Cadaqués has a long history, and much of it is still standing. One of the highlights of visiting Cadaqués is taking a trip to one of its medieval sights, like the Sant Salvador Castle. If you’ve ever dreamed about what it would be like to live like a prince or princess, then you’ll have found your spot. Just take a walk around, eat dinner overlooking the city, or even spend a night in one of the elegant hotels nearby.

The Food

If there is any place to have a delicious meal, it’s here in Cadaqués, where the seafood is fresh and the soothing atmosphere is unbeatable. All over Cadaqués, you can find fantastic restaurants, serving you mouth-watering dishes alongside all the sangria you could ever imagine. You’ll have the chance to try authentic Mediterranean food, which is hands-down one of the best cuisines in the world.

The Shops

You’re not going to find a huge department store here like you would in Barcelona, but you will find cute souvenir shops and boutique stores that can leave you window shopping for hours. From stores that sell sun-hats, to beachy jewelry, or even just some cool shot glasses for your friends, you’ll be sure to find it in a shop down one of Cadaqués’ lovely streets.

The Romance

Barcelona is already a romantic city, but sometimes romance comes from doing something different. Everything in Cadaqués, from the narrow streets and the sexy beaches, to the inspiring art and the aphrodisiacal food, is enough to make some chemistry happen here. Whether it’s the man seducing you by playing the accordion while you eat, or the newlyweds you’ll see on the beach celebrating their honeymoon, there’s something about Cadaqués that makes you fall in love all over again – even if the only thing to fall in love with is yourself.

It doesn’t take a lot of convincing to pack your bags and head up north for a weekend getaway in Cadaqués. What are you waiting for?
