The vintage clothing “boom” may have been slower to take off in Spain than some other European countries, but boom it has, with vintage stores springing up in all major cities. And Palma de Mallorca is no exception, with an ever-growing selection of American-style vintage, thrift, and charity stores, as well as high-end second-hand designer goods for sale or rent. The Mallorcan capital has slowly but surely developed its own vintage scene, and we’ve trawled the rails and come up with a list of the best stores. Did you know – Culture Trip now does bookable, small-group trips? Pick from authentic, immersive Epic Trips, compact and action-packed Mini Trips and sparkling, expansive Sailing Trips.

UNICO New & Vintage Lab

As the name suggests, UNICO New & Vintage Lab sells both “pre-loved” and new clothes. There’s a wide selection of vintage clothing and shoes, and items are generally in very good condition. The classic vintage favorites of Levi’s cut-off shorts, baseball jackets and lumberjack shirts are in good supply, and their range of Hawaiian shirts and lightly-used Vans is excellent. If you’re on a vintage shopping spree, there are also a couple of fantastic second-hand and retro furniture stores on the same street.

Seattle Vintage

Vintage Converse

Seattle Vintage is the place to go for those in the know in Palma. With rows of iconic Converse All Stars, piles of ’80s knits, and a huge array of colorful, striped basket bags with leather straps, this shop is a riot of color and great fun to look around. The selection is fantastic and there is a lot to browse, with the emphasis on American vintage clothing.

Rita’s House – Vintage and Second-Hand

Despite its central location just off Plaza Mayor, Rita’s House is easy to miss, but well worth making the effort to find. A large, industrial-style shop with chequer-board flooring, Rita’s has a decent range of vintage and second-hand, and a few select pieces of furniture and household items. Prices are average, there is plenty of stock, and although much of what’s for sale is fairly standard vintage-fare, there are also usually a handful stunning standout pieces.

Nolita’s

Relatively new on Palma’s vintage scene, Nolita’s is in a great location in the old town just off Plaza Mayor. As well as a good selection of vintage and second-hand clothing, they also stock a number of new items, all hand-made in Mallorca. Beach Bottle Project jewelry (jewelry made from recycled sea-washed glass), and Lazulita (soft leather gloves) are two of the local artisan brands on sale in the shop. They also have a great monthly sale rail for bargain hunters.

Quint

A little further from the city center than the others, but with an online shop available too, Quint is a great vintage and second-hand clothing store about a 20-minute walk from the heart of Palma. Prices are reasonable, the owner is very friendly, and the selection is pretty good. If you’re looking for the perfect vintage Hawaiian shirt, then this is the place for you – they have an excellent and authentic selection, as well as rail upon rail of other vintage items. They also have a sister shop, Urban, which as well as vintage, has a bargain-rail section of cheap, second-hand clothes which is well worth a browse.
