Pounding the pavements of a big city can really take it out of you until you crave nothing more than a relaxing couple of hours of quality me time. We count down some of the best spas in Madrid, where you can rejuvenate and spend some time looking after body and mind.
Set in the luxurious Hotel Urso, the Urso Spa has a team of spa therapists who can advise you on their wide range of treatments, including those tailored to women, men and the seasons, to really make the most of your visit. The spa features three treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy pool and an oriental steam hammam. Choose between perfecting, hydrating or brightening facials and full-body massages that use a range of techniques including the volcanic shells massage, which uses warm lava shells that reduce stress and relax the muscles.
Hidden in the converted cellars of a building in central Madrid, this traditional Arab bath offers a variety of massages using traditional oils and a water circuit that takes you through three different temperature pools. Feel your stress melt away as you lie back in the hot and temperate water pools, then feel invigorated as you plunge into the cold water pool. The water circuit also includes the steam room and relaxation room, where you can sip green tea among the Moorish-style arches for the ultimate chilled experience. The hammam is quieter earlier in the day and on weekdays.
Hidden down a street just off the bustling Puerta del Sol, Esenzias is a pilates and yoga studio, spa and massage centre all under one roof, where you can indulge in a range of relaxing activities. Its Onsen spa is a Japanese style spa – its compact size means that it can be used by a maximum of eight people, which ensures it is usually quiet. The hour-long spa circuit includes a jacuzzi, a cold water pool and a wooden, Japanese-style pool. Esenzias is also a good place for a reasonably priced massage; from Monday-Thursday a 30-minute treatment is just €21.
This luxury day spa is a relaxation and wellness space that offers a range of treatments to make you look and feel at your very best. Located close to Retiro Park, the spa offers 12 different facials, eight massages, eight body treatments and hair treatments including a hair detox to strip away impurities and a hydration treatment. A good place to pop in and come out feeling rejuvenated and relaxed.
Perhaps one of Madrid’s stranger spa experiences, this spa is centred around the practice of floating in pools of water filled with Epsom salts, which give them the same properties as the dead sea, allowing visitors to experience weightlessness and float easily without any effort at all. The spa also offers a range of massages and reflexology, the ideal accompaniment to time spent floating letting your worries melt away. The experience of floating is so relaxing, according to the spa, that one hour of floating is equivalent to four hours of sleep.
For a spa with a view, head to the Anssora Spa, on the 29th floor of the Hotel Eurostars, inside one of Madrid’s tallest skyscrapers. The compact spa has a hydrotherapy circuit and a choice of massages including deep tissue massage, sports massage and hot stone massage. If you fancy a more romantic experience you can opt for some Cava and chocolate-covered strawberries for a relaxing date night high above Madrid.
“A trip to Thailand without leaving Madrid”, The Organic Spa works with the best Thai masseurs to bring the art of massage to the Salamanca neighbourhood of the Spanish capital. The spa uses only organic products and becomes your own private oasis; enter your own suite for treatments that include Royal Thai Massages, facials, jet-lag massages and pregnancy therapies.

Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel - and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.
Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.
Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.
Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.
We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
