The beautiful city of Salamanca has a small but surprisingly lively gay nightlife scene which, though it includes just a few venues, is varied and interesting enough to keep even long-term visitors entertained. Here’s our guide to the best LGBT bars and watering holes in Salamanca.

Miranda

A good place to start the night is Miranda, a cosy, central bar, where you can enjoy beers and tapas in a friendly, international atmosphere with good music and at reasonable prices. The bar also hosts regular special events.

De Laval Genovés

Bar, Gay Bar, Nightclub, Spanish, Wine, Beer, Cocktails, Pub Grub

Decked out with nautical knick-knacks, the interior of De Laval Genovés is made up to resemble a gutted submarine, and the bar is nicknamed El Submarino. The fun decor and friendly atmosphere make it an essential part of a night out in Salamanca. It’s not an exclusively gay bar, but nevertheless a favourite with Salamanca’s LGBT community.

CarMen

Bar, Gay Bar, Pub Grub

Salamanca’s best-known gay bar, CarMen is open from mid-afternoon, when it has a laid-back, artsy vibe, until the early hours, making it a good choice for everything from coffee to late-night partying. It’s loved mainly for the great music and exceptionally nice owner, plus there’s a big dance floor, and they usually have live music on Saturday nights.

Mist

Formerly a late-night party spot just outside the city centre, this bar has been renovated, renamed and transformed into a sophisticated cocktail bar. The drinks are made to a high standard by friendly staff who are happy to help you choose. Moderate prices and ambient music make this a great choice for any night out, and the bar is particularly welcoming to their LGBT guests.
