These days, there really is no excuse to not get a healthy start to the day thanks to the growing trend for clean-eating and nutrition-forward restaurants. Fortunately for us, Barcelona has some fantastic options for a healthy breakfast or brunch, offering tantalising smoothies, fresh juices, breakfast bowls, gluten-free treats and much more.

Bendita Helena Coffee House

Cafe, Healthy

Are you the kind of person who could easily eat a breakfast bowl piled high with fresh fruit, nuts and superfoods any time of the day? Well, Bendita Helena is the kind of place that likes to let you do that. They offer their version of ‘comfort food’ packed with mega-healthy ingredients such as avocado, eggs, nuts, greens and other clean-eating superstars. They’re also pretty serious about their coffee, so you can still get your caffeine fix when you need it.

Located on one of Barcelona’s trendiest streets, The Juice House is a clean-eating all day café and restaurant which specialises in cold pressed juices. Aside from these vitamin-rich drinks the menu contains other healthy options such as chia pudding bowls, açai bowls and even the naughty option is still rather healthy as the pancakes are made with oats and chia.

Green & Berry

Cafe, Healthy

Specialising in cold pressed juices and wholesome smoothies, Green & Berry is a casual café and eatery with a wide selection of dishes available to takeaway or eat in. Think breakfast bowls packed with superfood and fresh fruit but also Instagram-ready raw vegan macaroons, vegan cookies and gluten-free cakes. This place is very much of the ‘food is fuel’ school of clean-eating.

The ethos here is that of a flexitarian diet, combining a mostly vegetarian diet with small amounts of animal protein, especially lean meats and oily fish. The breakfast menu is extensive and has a selection of healthy baked goods, breakfast bowls, things on toast and cooked breakfasts rich in superfoods and highly nutritive ingredients.

All you eat is love

Cafe, Healthy

This independent vegetarian café offers a great selection of healthy treats, which are freshly made on site every day. The breakfast selection includes things like a protein-rich blueberry breakfast bowl, a frozen banana and red fruit bowl with muesli and even a raw vegan cheesecake if you fancy something just a little naughty. All you eat is love also has a great selection of freshly made juices and smoothies that will give you a vitamin boost to start the day.

ITACATE Juice Bar & Cafeteria

Cafe, Juice Bar, Healthy

This cute café and juice bar located in trendy Sant Antoni is a great place for a healthy start to the day thanks to its selection of freshly made juices. The exposed stone walls and faded wood interiors give the locale a contemporary feel that manages to be both cosy and stylish. This is the kind of place locals frequent, and the owners try their best to make Itacate more than just another healthy café.
