A decent burger is sometimes hard to find, but with more burger joints opening up in Mallorca – and in particular Palma – the choice and quality of places is getting better all the time. Whether you’re looking for a classic American hamburger, a meat-free veggie burger, or something more avant-garde, there’s no shortage of joints to satisfy your patty-in-a-bap craving – here are six of the best.

Badal Burger

Restaurant, Fast Food, Spanish

It would be criminal not to include Badal Burger at the top of this list; and once you’ve eaten here, it’s easy to see why this small restaurant is always packed. The atmosphere is buzzing, the staff are super friendly, and the burgers are to die for. Interesting and unusual toppings range from classic bacon, calamari and foie gras to name a few. If you’re particular about your burgers, the menu takes the form of an order sheet allowing you to customise to you heart’s content. With different options for bread, cheese, patty size, sauces, toppings and sides, you get to create your perfect burger. The sweet potato fries here are also top notch, and the fact that you can wash it all down with a Brooklyn Lager pretty much seals the deal.

Burger Lab

Restaurant, Fast Food, Spanish, Italian, Mexican

Owned by Adrián Quetglas, whose eponymous restaurant elsewhere in Palma has a Michelin star, Burger Lab is a great addition to the casual dining scene. With a small but excellent selection of burgers, including classic patties, fish, Italian, Mexican or Mallorcan, not to mention an interesting range of breads and tasty sides, they have it all covered. Indoor seating is high stools at the stylish long bar, or you can dine at their small tables. There’s also an outdoor terrace and kids activity area at the back complete with a movie screen.

Gin Burger

Restaurant, Fast Food, Spanish

Gin and burgers – what more could you possibly want from a restaurant? With a hearty selection of burgers, including both vegan and vegetarian options, and mini portions for kids, Gin Burger certainly has the food side of things nailed. They even have a Mallorquin burger featuring local cheese, sobrasada (traditional sausage) and caper mayonnaise. As for the gin, there are 35 varieties on offer, as well as five different tonics. Gin and burgers may not seem like the most obvious pairing, but once you’ve tried the two together, you’ll never look back.

The Lucky Bun

Bar, Pub Grub, Spanish, Vegetarian, BBQ

The Lucky Bun may be small, but it has an extensive menu with a huge selection of different beef burgers, pulled pork burgers, chicken burgers, and no less than seven vegetarian options. The classic pulled pork with BBQ sauce and alioli sauce is particularly good, the sides are not bad, and they also do ribs and nachos. It’s a shame they don’t do desserts but in terms of burgers, it’s well worth a visit.

Burger & Taco

Diner, Restaurant, Spanish, Contemporary, Vegetarian

Popular with locals and tourists alike, Burger & Taco, a contemporary diner in the central town of Inca, is fun and relaxed and serves great burgers. With a total of 10 burgers on the menu (one vegetarian), there’s plenty to choose from. The ‘Red & Blue’ with spicy salsa and blue cheese is a particular favourite.

Dimmock's Healthy Burger

Diner, Restaurant, Spanish

Family-friendly with mouth-watering burgers, decent cocktails and a play area for kids, there’s a lot to like about Dimmock’s Healthy Burger. Their ‘legendary’ burgers are firm favourites, and the classic ‘Angus Jones’ is particularly popular. They also have an option to create your own burger, with a choice of meats and styles. The ‘burger of the month’ is always worth trying and the chips deserve a mention with four different types on offer, including a patatas bravas option.
