The second edition of Hotel Tapa Tour is coming to Madrid from June 15-25, 2017. This special event features four and five-star hotels which can be visited specifically to eat tapas. Each hotel offers two speciality dishes – one which can be voted for in the best tapa contest, and another from which proceeds go toward a social or environmental cause.

Freshly prepared

The concept is similar to bar-hopping, except in this case you’ll be ‘fancy hotel-hopping’. This is a unique way to experience many luxury hotels without having to stay the night. In total, you can sample 64 different tapas at 32 participating hotels. Most tapas have a price ranging from 6-10. Each tapa is specific to the hotel and has been paired with a glass of champagne or wine from well-known Spanish wineries such as Codorníu and Bodegas Bilbaínas. Also, if you vote for your favourite tapa using the Hotel Tapa Tour App, you’ll be entered into a draw to win a plane ticket anywhere in Europe for two people, courtesy of Norwegian Airlines.

Enjoy an open-air tapa

All information is available on the Hotel Tapa tour website, where there are specific routes you may want to follow or just plan your own. For example, the route along the famous Gran Vía street includes four participating hotels:

The Hotel Indigo

Vincci The Mint

H10 Villa de la Reina

Hotel Santo Domingo

Served with champagne

The tapas are creative and made with fresh and delicious ingredients. For example, sample the Mini Flamenquín con emulsión de piquillo at the Melia Galgos Hotel, which is small slices of meat wrapped in Iberian ham and Manchago cheese, breaded and fried with Japanese Panko and piquillo peppers. The suggested wine pairing included in the price is the Anna de Codorníu Blanc de Blancs. The cost of this particular tapa is 10 and proceeds go towards Unicef.

Besides the tapas, many of the participating hotels offer select surprises, such as tastings, free samples, live DJ sessions and more.
