Hidden among a labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets in the Alfalfa neighbourhood, Corral del Rey is a meticulously restored 17th-century palacio run by a pair of English brothers. The vibe is a mixture of exotic North African, neo-classical and Andalucian tradition, assuredly combined with a flourish of low-key luxury. Art-filled yet restful rooms all come with espresso machines and fluffy robes, while the swankiest add private pool terraces with views to the nearby cathedral.

3. Casa Romana Hotel Boutique

As the name suggests, this upscale boutique hotel is themed around classical Rome. You’ll find plenty of Roman-inspired art scattered around this converted 18th-century mansion, complemented by busy geometric tiling and plenty of polished marble. There’s a lovely rooftop area with a cocktail bar, comfy seating and views over the Seville cityscape. With two tranquil patios lined with columned arches and dotted with plants, there’s an immediate sense of peace upon stepping into Hotel Casa Imperial. Arabian flourishes fuse with traditional Sevillian decor in this 16th-century building, emphasising their overlapping history. Interiors lean towards the opulent, with plenty of heavy drapery, antique furnishings and high-beamed ceilings. It’s set on a cobbled, tree-lined lane in the centre of Seville, so you’re just a five-minute stroll from some of the top historic gems in the city such as Seville Cathedral and La Giralda bell tower.
