While castles may be hard to come by these days in much of Europe, in Spain there are still many for sale – if you have a few million to spare. Here are 11 castles in Spain you can actually buy.

Castillo de Piedrasbuenas, Badajoz

The impressive Castillo de Piedrasbuenas, along with its estate of over 500 hectares, could be yours for a cool €14,500,000. Located in Badajoz, Extremadura, right near the Portuguese border, it was built in the 18th century and once belonged to the military order of Alcantara. It currently belongs to a family whose ancestors acquired the property in 1906 and has undergone a million euro reform, meaning it’s in great condition and ready to move into straight away.

Torre Negra, Barcelona

For just €3,500,000 you could be the owner of this lovely 16th-century castle in Sant Cugat, just a 20-minute train ride from the centre of Barcelona. Torre Negara sits on an estate comprising 2,700 sq. m. of lawns and gardens, and 80 hectares of woodland. The foreboding 14th-century Castillo de los Velasco can be found in the province of Burgos, but actually closer to the city of Bilbao. It may look a little rough around the edges from the outside, but inside you’ll find nothing but high quality, including an elevator up to the pool, central heating and double glazed windows. The magnificent Butron Castle looks like it’s taken straight from the pages of a children’s fairytale, with its circular turrets and intricate façade. Located in the suburbs of Bilbao, it’s unusual among castles in Spain because of its Gothic style. If you have a spare €5,000,000 to spend, you could be queen of this seven-floor castle, along with its large park, servants quarters, pond, cellar and dungeon.
