Like most Spanish towns, Albacete has plenty of lively bars where you can enjoy a drink and some tapas. Many are found near the busy central street of Calle Concepcion. Here’s our guide to the best bars to visit.

Nuestro Bar

Bar, Restaurant, Mediterranean, Spanish, Vegetarian

Nuestro Bar, Albacete

This very Spanish little bar, tucked away on a small street, is decked out with bullfighting memorabilia and serves very traditional fare. Nuestro Bar seems simple from the outside but it’s actually the perfect place for dinner – it might surprise you with the quality of its seafood, suckling pig and other favourite local dishes. They have an English menu, but as Albacete is not a big tourist destination, don’t be surprised if the staff here and elsewhere speak little English. Don’t worry if your Spanish isn’t up to scratch. A smile goes a long way in this fun and friendly local bar.

El Torito

Bar, Spanish, Wine, Beer, Cocktails

Music lovers will want to spend their evenings at El Torito, or ‘the bull’, a much-loved music bar that serves as a meeting point for local musicians. The cécor is simple, the prices are low and dim lighting and comfy armchairs create a relaxed atmosphere.

La Leche Militina

Bar, Wine, Beer, Cocktails

If you’re looking for a place to hang out in the daytime, this central café-bar is a good bet. With great coffee, free wifi and a good selection of cakes and tapas, it’s easy to spend a couple of hours here chatting with friends or watching the world go by.

Cafe Concierto Nido de Arte

This café-bar in the centre of Albacete has a relaxed vibe perfect for meeting friends for coffee by day, and in the evening it becomes a lively spot to enjoy a glass of wine and some tapas while taking in a live-music performance. It’s not the cheapest bar in town, but it’s a very pleasant place to spend some time.

History

Bar, Spanish, Beer, Wine, Cocktails

Much loved by locals for its good-value food and friendly service, History is a cosy, casual bar that’s perfect for starting a night out over tapas and wine with friends. They also serve food throughout the day, and the atmosphere is always warm and unpretentious.

Velouria

Another of Albacete’s popular late-night bars for music lovers, Velouria is a live indie music venue that gets busy and loud, especially on Saturday nights, but guarantees a good time, with plenty of reasonably priced drinks and a surprisingly large food menu including everything from burgers to paella.
