Volgograd was formerly Stalingrad, where the bloody WWII Battle of Stalingrad took place. The city’s history can be traced back to the 16th century, so for these reasons and more, it’s often considered a must-see for history aficionados. No matter what you’re after, you’ll need somewhere to stay while exploring. Here are the best accommodation options in Volgograd, Russia.
The city’s most famous hotel is in the city centre, and many of the main Volgograd attractions are within a short walk. The hotel offers a restaurant, full-service spa, sauna and an indoor pool. It is an excellent accommodation option for those with very little time, as commuting will not be an issue and the amenities allow for relaxing after long and intense days.
For an elegant and central accommodation at a reasonable price, Yuzhniy Hotel is just the place. This modern hotel with classic appeal is in the heart of Volgograd. It’s just steps from the city’s main attractions, and the rooms on higher floors offer a nice view. Yuzhniy does not have a spa, so it is a more prudent choice if you’re not planning to use these services.
If big-city life is too much to handle, and a cosy and quiet place outside of the city holds more appeal, try Boutique-Hotel Rest House. The main Volgograd attractions are still easily reached on foot after about a 30-50 minute walk, and upon returning, the city is far enough away that you might feel like a local. The hotel is elegant and cosy and consists of only 10 rooms, so other guests will become familiar, similar to close neighbours. Continental breakfast is included in the price of every room.
Parallel Hotel is a simple yet elegant lodging in a residential district of Volgograd. It offers excellent value for money and will provide everything needed for a short stay in the city, including a shuttle to and from the airport, free continental breakfast, free parking, air conditioning and laundry service. Parallel is a great option for those interested in a comfortable place to stay in a local area.
Make the most of the famous River Don at Hotel Start. Fairly distant from the city centre and surrounded by beautiful nature, many of the rooms have a view of the river. Guests can swim in the river and should be sure to take advantage of the nearby beach, as well as the bar and fitness centre in the hotel. Hotel Start is the perfect place to spend a summer in Volgograd.
