When it comes to nightlife, perhaps St Petersburg can’t compete with Moscow’s fashionable clubs and giant dance floors. Nonetheless, St Petersburg still has its charm and wins party hearts over with smaller establishments, each competing to be more unique and creative than the other. Here’s our guide to the best of the bunch.

Did you know – Culture Trip now does bookable, small-group trips? Pick from authentic, immersive Epic Trips, compact and action-packed Mini Trips and sparkling, expansive Sailing Trips.

Mishka Bar

Mishka is not just a bar, it’s an institution. It’s a place where you can meet just about anybody and will likely run into somebody you know. The bar slightly resembles a den with dimmed lights, and it serves drinks at very democratic prices. Make sure to try their shots. And if you’re wondering about the name, yes, it comes from the popular Youtube video with a husky called Mishka.

Belgrade

Dumskaya Street is notorious for underground nightclubs and parties that last till morning. There are many establishments to choose from here, but Belgrade is always a great choice for dancing all night long. The club is fairly small and the dance floor can get very packed, so get ready to really dive into the fun.

Mosaique

Nightlife

This club is only open twice a week, and the party here doesn’t get started till late, but then it keeps going until the early hours of the morning. There are two bars and a dance floor with a capacity of 300 people. These parties attract a fashionable crowd, so expect ‘face control’ at the door and dress up for the occasion.

Lomonosov Bar

A large bar with three different party zones, the night kicks off here with some cocktails and usually ends with dancing on the table. Dancing is further incentivised with the most popular tunes and seductive go-go dancers to keep the crowd moving.

Akakao Bar

A secretive and private apartment-like bar that turns into a club towards the evening. It is set up with different zones depending on what you’re in the mood for that particular night. There’s a shisha room, a karaoke area, and, of course, a dance floor. Getting in is not straightforward. You’ll need to call in and acquire a password that changes every evening.

MOD

Clubbing

This St Petersburg music establishment has recently been renovated and expanded. There are now two music halls, a summer terrace and a bar. There are events held here on a daily basis, and at night local, alternative bands perform for a dancing crowd. Most music events are subject to ticket fees, so scroll through their website for upcoming shows and prices.
