For a real treat and a glimpse of Poland’s communist history, Seta i Galareta Zamość fits the bill. It’s a stylish bar aimed to represent the PRL era in Poland, when the country was known as Polska Rzeczpospolita Ludowa and under the control of the Soviet Union. Inside the bar, you can find memorabilia from those days (record players, gramophones, empty tins of old Polish food products, etc.) and it feels like a warp back in time. On the food menu, try the local Pierogi Ruskie (dumplings filled with potato and onion) or the Tatar wołowy (raw steak with vegetables and egg).

However, this is a strictly Polish venue with some great Polish dishes on the delicious food menu. Try the Pierogi z kapustą i grzybami (Polish dumplings with cabbage and mushroom), the Śledź (herring) or the Gołąbki wigilijne z grzybami (cabbage rolls with mushroom). Wash them down with some local vodka or the local beer Zwierzyniec or the Irish stout.
