The charms of the Kociewian town of Starogard Gdański in Poland lie beyond the town’s pretty main square and churches. As the sun prepares to go down over this town, take time out to explore the best bars in Starogard Gdański, one of Poland’s prettiest towns, very close to the idyllic Malbork. Even the fact that the town’s mock beach and outdoor beer garden are only around in the summer doesn’t take the shine off Starogard’s thriving bar and pub scene. These are some of the best bars to check out.

Browar Kociewski

Brewery

Browar Kociewski is a treat for anyone who enjoys craft beer and decent Polish cuisine in a relaxed and modern setting. Browar Kociewski itself is situated within the Hotel Ren, with the brewery here on site. Indeed, you can sip your beer next to where the actual beer is brewed. Once a year the venue hosts a popular beer festival, and the beers on tap take the form of four regular options: Pils, Lager, Bok, and Pszeniczne. On the food menu, the unusual “Zupa Piwna” (beer soup) and the Tatar come heartily recommended.

Małe Piwko

Pub, Italian, Pub Grub

Małe Piwko translates as “small beer,” which is a sarcastic take on things, as this cool pub has not only a huge range of beers on tap and in bottles, but you can also drink beer from a huge boot! On the wall hangs a bicycle; at the bar, friendly staff led by owners Sebastian and Martyna serve up delightful beers and cocktails. Next door, from the same owner is the U Huka pizza restaurant with great food to complement your “small beer.”

Restauracja Browar Rynek

Bar, Restaurant, Polish

A mere two streets away from Starogard Gdański’s main Old Town square sits the Restauracja Browar Rynek. A trendy, modern, clean, and happy place to enjoy decent beer that is locally brewed along with a traditional Polish menu with trademark dishes such as pierogi and bigos are standard. On tap, they have the tasty Starogardskie beer and passionate staff to welcome you to one of the best bars in town. Its central location also makes it a good stop-over pub for a night out.

Pub Chill Out

Pub Chill Out has a different vibe than the first three on this list. This is basically a small and cosy one-room bar. One bar, one toilet, one guitar, one room. A great place for a pre-club beer, a relaxing afternoon tipple, or indeed a session with friends in the company of good music and sometimes karaoke. It’s also the main place to smoke shisha in Starogard Gdański.

Mona Lisa

Bar, Pub, Polish, Pub Grub

A pub, a club, and good food all in one, Mona Lisa takes over from the venue’s previous popularity under the “Projekt PRL” moniker, which saw a very successful and new venture in this town. Mona Lisa adds some new traits of its own to the pub life in Starogard Gdański. Sexy toilets, a bar designed for fast service, a dance floor, an outdoor beer garden (ideally summer only), and typical Polish food.

Basement Club

Bar, Nightclub, Polish, Pub Grub

For a night of extreme partying, head to Starogard’s underground basement club, situated nicely right in the center of the Old Town. It’s on the main square down the stairs from the Sphinx restaurant. DJs pump out the best tunes in the city, and this is a place where you can relax and party all in one.

Klubo Kawiarnia Szafa

Cafe, Coffee Shop, Polish, Tea , Vegetarian

Literally translating as the “cafe club in a wardrobe,” Klubo Kawiarnia Szafa is a trendy café and wine bar just a street away from Starogard Gdański’s famous town square. The menu here at Klubo Kawiarnia Szafa is rather exquisite and personalized, with their own trademark drinks. Cakes are superb, and the décor is very quaint and traditional. The bar also has Wi-Fi.

Kula Bowling Bar

Bowling Alley

For the trendy cocktail option in Starogard Gdański, head to Kula Bowling Bar, which is a bowling alley and swanky bar all in one. They have a stylish range of freshly prepared cocktails, and a well-stocked bar with plenty of beer and vodka for a party while also enjoying a game of bowling.
