The Best Bars in Rzeszów, Poland
Rzeszów is the capital city of Poland’s Sub-carpathian Province and has been since 1999. As well as being the last major city on the train line to Ukraine, the city itself offers some surprising and unusual tourist sights. By night, however, Rzeszów’s real charm lies in its eclectic mix and infinite variety of bars, pubs and restaurants. These are the best bars to check out as you spend a night to remember in a city that time forgot.
Irish Pub Galway
Pub, Irish
To kick-start a night out in Rzeszów, check out the well-decorated Irish Pub Galway, which is situated through an alley and up the stairs on the city’s ‘3rd May Street’. Included in a list of best Irish Pubs in Poland, it is the interior décor, warm atmosphere and traditional Irish appearance that help this place attract customers from far and wide all year round. With Guinness on tap and good Irish whiskeys, green walls, books aplenty, live sports and genuine Irish items on the walls, Irish Pub Galway might as well actually be in Galway when you close the doors and sit down for that drop of Irish stout.
Pewex Pub
Pub, Beer
A real cheap, lively option in the heart of Rzeszów’s Stary Rynek (main square) sits the popular Pewex Pub. It has long opening hours, a great vibe and is right in the centre of the city, which means it can be used at any point during a pub crawl. There are often promotions on shots and draught beers, and the venue has DJs and special events on occasions.
Rambla Bar and Music Club
Bar, Pub, Pub Grub
A little bit of a Latino and Spanish vibe is present in this quirky venue, Rambla, just a few minutes’ walk from the main square. It’s a small and cosy bar, with a front room bar and a back lounge for chilling out. On the menu are some great shot options and superb cocktails. It’s also a lively place to watch midweek football, and understandably Spanish teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona are shown on the TV screens here.
The Old Brewery
Bar, Polish
For some fresh Polish beer direct from the brewery itself, don’t miss the Old Brewery (known locally as the Stary Browar), situated nicely on the main square in Rzeszów. Beer lovers will jump at the chance to try the board sample which features four of the best home-brewed beers in not just the city but the region. The food menu is exquisite with lamb chops, Polish pierogi filled with duck and plum sauce and baked cod fillet.
Kraftmania
Bar, Polish, Pub Grub
Beer lovers will feel totally at home in Kraftmania, which is a cool bar specialising in all sorts of unusual and quirky craft beers. Those available in bottles include ‘The Blogger’ and ‘Am to PM’. They have a peculiar canned beer option called ‘Dessert in a can’, and the staff are always keen to try out and order new beers from within Poland and abroad. The beers are not as cheap as other venues in town, but you are paying for the atmosphere as well as the creative range of beers to sample.
Soda Pub Rzeszów
Bar, Pub, Pub Grub
On one of the corners by the main square, you can find the Soda Pub Rzeszów. This is a dark and small venue that has hit a real niche with its opening hours, as it rarely ever closes. Officially it opens at 10 am and closes at 5 am, but on weekends if there are still customers, it will stay open even longer. Live music is pumped out, and the venue has TV screens showing all sorts of sports, including speedway, football, skiing and volleyball.
Česká Hospoda
Bar, Restaurant, Czech
Yet more good beer and with a Czech style to it can be found in Česká Hospoda, which also sits centrally on Rzeszów’s main square. There are five excellent Czech beers to be sampled, and the food menu features some real Eastern European classics such as the pork and cabbage dish Knedlo-vepřo-zelo or the Czech beef goulash called Hovězí guláš.
