Multitap Piwiarnia is one of the coolest bars in Częstochowa. As the title suggests, this is a place for beer lovers, as it has an eclectic range of good beers on tap. But look beyond that and there are so many other quirky things about this bar. Firstly, there are unusual pub games such as Klask (a magnetic board game to be played while sipping good beer). There is regular live music, both inside and outside (depending on weather and season). To top it all off, there is a superb range of typical Polish pub snacks such as the zapiekanki (bread with cheese and mushroom), pierogi (Polish dumplings) and barbecued kiełbasa (good Polish sausage). The pub also holds regular special events and even has green beer on St. Patrick’s Day.

Fresh cocktails, a mixture of shots to share and cold beer are standard here in this popular local nightspot. Lomobar manages to attract a range of students, single people and couples through its doors. Live football matches are shown on the TV screens, including the Polish national team games and the Champions League. There is a dance floor at the weekends and plenty of comfortable booths where you can sit and chat in a warm and pleasant atmosphere. The location is also excellent – it’s just off the main drag in Częstochowa – Aleja Najświętszej Maryi Panny.

Częstochowa’s coolest New York-style burger bar is a real hit with the locals. At Wall Street, you can get huge, delicious burgers, owing their style to the Big Apple. You can watch live football and drink frothy beer. The interior décor is something pretty unusual for Poland – the seating arrangement features huge, comfy office-style recliners, bathtubs converted into benches and desks fit for a Wall Street office. The walls have images from the streets of New York City on them. For those into smoothies and cocktails, there is a wide range of options, served in jars and made with fresh fruit.

Dekadencja (which translates as ‘Decadent’) is a trendy night haunt for locals who love to party, socialise and drink the night away. The bar doles out great cocktails such as Malibu sunrises and Bloody Marys. It’s a cosy and lively venue, with live bands and DJs often playing. By day, it also acts a cool chill-out zone for a coffee or a casual business rendezvous. Well trained and hard working bar staff keep clients happy until the early hours of the morning on busy weekends. Dekadencja is also located just a few minutes’ walk from the town hall and many of Częstochowa’s top sights.

Ministerstwo Śledzia i Wódki is a popular chain of Polish bars that are situated in various towns around the country. This venue in Częstochowa is well located in the heart of the city, on Śląska Street. Inside, you can find extremely cheap beer and vodka on the drinks menu. These venues pride themselves on cheap and fast typical Polish food and drinks, served quickly and with a minimum of fuss. The walls and shelved are adorned with images of yesteryear – think of the Communist times in Poland. This means you can see gramophones, propaganda posters and memories of when the country was known as PRL. The trademark herring is the special on the food menu, and costs a mere 8 złotych (around US$2). For the same price, you can also have a plate of Polish sausage or toast with ham and cheese. Beer and vodka prices start at 4 złotych (around US$1), making it one of the cheapest and coolest bars in the city.

A very relaxing and popular summer venue in Częstochowa is Bar Promenada. It has a large outdoor beer garden area, as well as the indoor bar. The food menu is pub grub with salads, burgers and kebabs being the main options, as well as the popular Polish zapiekanki (bread with cheese and mushrooms). It’s a family-friendly venue and, of course, dogs are welcome in the courtyard. There are more than ten beers on tap and a coffee machine for good cappuccinos, and there is free Wi-Fi. Location-wise, it’s near a leafy park area (Park Tysiąclecia), making it a perfect place to escape the busy streets of the city.

For a lively bar and club experience, visit Flash Back, which attracts a vibrant crowd and is famous for having good music and DJs. It is a venue more for drinking than eating, though some bar snacks such as pizza are available until the venue becomes busy.
