Cagliari is a hip city with a cosmopolitan vibe. The city’s residents take the aperitvo hour pretty seriously and flock to the Bastione San Remy to watch the sun sink into the ocean horizon. where there is a concentration of cafés and bars. Another great part of town to check out for a drink is near the university in Cagliari’s historic center.

Cafe Etnico

This is a lively and friendly spot with a young energy near the Monte Mixi is a bit off the usual tourist track. Decorated in a ethnic-chic style, the drinks here are excellently mixed and the play list is well curated.

Caffè de Candia

Enjoy the chill vibe and have an Aperol spritz at this well priced cafe with a killer location on top of the city’s defensive walls. For music lovers, at the weekend there is often live music or a DJ set in the evenings.

Libarium Nostrum

The immense terrace with views of the 14th century towers that once guarded the city and out over the sea, is dotted with gazebos and couches. There is a mix of both live music and DJ sets that adds to the atmosphere. Try the house drink created by the owner Danilo Argiolas with the fetching name Alligator, a mix of Drambuie and Calvados but beware, it has a bite!

Hop Corner

If you are looking for something other than a glass of Cannanou, Hop Corner has the fix on the craft beer trend. With Italian offerings as well as a few European and American imports, there is plenty to choose, from Saison to IPA to ales. This is also a great spot to have a burger to accompany that beer.

Al Merlo Parlante

This well known spot in Stampace neighborhood near the University of Caglari always has a dozen beers on tap and over 100 bottled beers. An Italian version of a dive bar, the wood paneling and tables create a cozy feel. Their paninis are legendary. Some people come just for that.

Ritual Caffe

Come here well after dark and dance the night away in this grotto near Cagliari’s university. This limestone cobbled cave attracts some of Italy’s best live DJ sets.

Emmerson Cagliari

For some, lounging with your feet in the sand at The Emmerson at Poetta Beach is the most stylish. Come here for a pre-dinner drink and watch the sun set and the moon rise above the sea or a post dinner nightcap when the music is turned up and the bar is open late.

B Flat Jazz Club

Every Thursday to Sunday night at the B Flat Jazz Club, you can experience live music in this elegant club with amazing acoustics. Located in the Quartiere del Sole, it is primarily jazz acts that are booked, but check the venue events page to see if it’s bossanova, piano or pop covers on the night you visit.
