Hungary is an ideal destination for anyone hoping to get in the saddle: the country has long relied on its equestrian population and boasts a number of great stables and horse parks to visit. Whether you’re a total beginner or an experienced equestrian, the country has something for everyone – check out these five great places to go horse riding in Hungary.

Rádiháza

Set among the rolling hills and green landscapes of the southern Hungarian region of County Zala, Rádiháza is the perfect place to enjoy cross country riding. Thanks to a range of accommodation options, the farm can be visited for an all immersive horse riding experience; alternatively, the riding school provides a number of options for a day out. Shorter cross country rides or longer excursions are both available and, for those who aren’t keen to get in the saddle yet still want to enjoy the experience, horse drawn carts can also be hired.

Maximum Equestrian Club

Approximately 28 miles (45km) from Budapest, this rural haven spread over a few hundred acres of land is a great option for an accessible horse riding experience near the Hungarian capital. The club is ideal for those who want to get out there and explore the Hungarian countryside: wilderness camps are a key feature of the stables’ repertoire, with English speaking guides leading the way. Those looking to take part in a riding tour will need to have the basic skills and fitness level needed to ride for a few hours at a time; for less confident riders, classes and training sessions are also available.

With an indoor and outdoor training arena, the park offers lessons to all levels from beginner through to advanced, as well as a horse club for anyone wanting to spend more time with the park’s ponies. Cross country riding, lunging and horse carriage rides can also be enjoyed.
