This Country is Home to the World's Best Boutique Hotel
Against all odds, the tourism and travel industry in Greece is booming. And why wouldn’t it be? Despite economic woes, Greece still boasts perennial wonders of a distant past, stunning beaches and a long summer season blessed with unadulterated sunshine. Therefore, it is definitely not surprising that the country won the World’s Best New Hotel award.
The World Boutique Hotel Awards, an international awards organization established to celebrate excellence among luxury boutique hotels throughout the world, announced its 2017 winners during an award gala held in London. And this year, the winner of the World’s Best New Hotel is Kensho Boutique Hotel & Suites, located on the cosmopolitan island of Mykonos.
Overlooking Ornos Bay, a few kilometres away from Mykonos Town, Kensho Boutique Hotel & Suites is a five-star hotel that brilliantly combines the Mykonian aesthetic (read: crisp white and natural accents) with high-quality services that transport its guests to a luxurious holiday experience.
If you are a design lover, you will certainly revel in the hotel’s collection, which includes pieces from renowned names, such as Patricia Urquiola, Kenneth Cobonpue and Paola Navone, among others. Furthermore, each of the 25 luxurious rooms and 10 suites have been decorated with attention to detail, transforming them into art spaces, featuring all the modern amenities you would expect from a five-star hotel.
The cherry on top has to be the rooftop garden’s award-winning fine dining restaurant, managed by executive chef, George Stylianoudakis. Combining locally-sourced ingredients with a strong expertise, the dishes served burst with flavours and texture for an incredible culinary experience. For relaxing evenings on site, head to the pool bar, where the bartender’s expertly-crafted libations will bring your stay to new heights.
This new award is not Kensho’s first (and we suspect, not its last), as the hotel also won the 2017 World Luxury Hotel Awards and the 2017 World Luxury Restaurant Awards, among others.
This year is definitely a great year for luxury hotels in Greece, with the World Boutique Hotel Awards awarding two other establishments in Greece, and with Santorini’s Carpe Diem and Aenaon Villas both awarded the World’s Most Romantic Hotel and the World’s Best Honeymoon Hideaway Awards, respectively.
