You may not think of Athens as an interior design hotspot, but this may change soon. The Greek capital boasts a few gems when it comes to interior design boutiques and stores. Here are some of the best spots you can shop your heart out in Athens.

1. Paraphernalia

Paraphernalia is a unique interior design shop opened by George Karras and Angela Koutroulaki in 2014. Stocking a vast collection of carefully curated items ranging from home and office wares, lighting, furniture, lighting, jewelry, and accessories, the store is a modern and sleek Ali Baba’s cave.

2. DesignShop

Shop, Store

DesignShop, founded in 2008 by Vassilis Zaroggas and Dimitra Fratzoglou, has both a store in Neo Psychiko and an online store to make interior design accessible to more people. Focusing on meaningful relationships with its customers, DesignShop features a plethora of brands and local designers such as We Design, It’s All Greek 2Me, and many more. The shop also works on various design projects, such as Zimari Bakery & Coffee in Panormou.

This interior design store in Kolonaki is a great reference point when it comes to shopping brands such as Artek, Culti, Secto Design, or Tom Dixon. Stop by Box Architects for high-quality furniture, lighting, kitchen and bathroom accessories, fabrics, and wallpapers. Box also has an extensive hotel products department and even a wedding registry. Brilliant, isn’t it?

4. Roma 5 Design

Roma 5 Design opened in 1981 on Roma street and was probably the first store to introduce the philosophy of interior design to Greece. After 30 years, Roma 5 and owner Christos Papageorgiou are still pioneers in the field. Though it strongly prefers for European brands, Roma 5 also stocks a plethora of Scandinavian designers, focusing on newer generations. As such, it actively imports Marimekko, Lammhults, Artek, LK Hjelle, and even Nils Holger Moormann.

5. Myran

Located right next to the Dexameni square, Myran is the temple for anything Scandinavian, beautiful, and modern.
