Museum Island is home to five celebrated museums, where some of the best artefacts in Berlin (and Germany) can be discovered. Visitors can spend the day taking in some of Berlin’s finest artistic sights and then venture to the surrounding area to enjoy Berliners’ favourite culinary feast: currywurst. Here are the best spots to try currywurst near Museumsinsel.

Curry 61

Close to Hackescher Markt, and just a short walk along the tree-lined canal from Museum Island, Curry 61 is a cosy currywurst joint in the heart of the city. Serving up freshly made, succulent sausages, it’s the perfect spot for well-priced bites, including the original Berlin currywurst, drowning in rich ketchup and curry powder.
