The multiculturalism of the city can certainly be felt here, and the area is buzzing with Turkish, Middle Eastern and African culture and their culinary influences. With plenty on offer, we’ve broken down the very best spots to try falafel in Kreuzberg.

1. 1001 Falafel

Located on Oranienstraße, in the heart of Kreuzberg, 1001 Falafel has all the best bits of a Turkish-cuisine joint. It’s well-priced, quick, delicious and has some of the best falafel sandwiches in the city.

2. Maroush

Maroush is a tasty, fresh and well-priced Middle Eastern spot located in the heart of Kreuzberg. Offering outstandingly fragrant and savoury falafel sandwiches and Teller (mixed plates), this Kotti-adjacent joint is traditional and delicious. Everything from the seasoning and sauces to the falafel and vegetables are mouth-wateringly fresh.

3. Sahara Imbiss

Sahara Imbiss the local Sudanese-cuisine restaurant that the locals can’t get enough of. One of three chains, their most recent location has opened on the Kreuzkölln border, much the area’s delight. Inside, the walls are adorned with African design, the interior is simple and the food is some of the tastiest you’ll have in Berlin. With its signature peanut sauce and falafel, this vegan and vegetarian joint is hailed as one of the best in the city.

4. Rissani

Rissani is the perfect quick dinner or lunch spot in Kreuzberg. Offering some of the cheapest falafel in town, starting at just 2€, it’s also some of the tastiest. To taste their full range of flavours, opt for one of their mixed plates, which combines fresh salad, hummus, refreshing tahini sauce and plenty of falafel, roast vegetables and, if you fancy it, meat.

5. Gude Falafel

Gude Falafel is the locals-favourite Lebanese spot in Kreuzberg. Their menu has a range of traditional favourites, including some of the finest falafel, hummus and roast vegetable Teller in the city. Whether you want to enjoy it there or take it to go, this is a must-try when in the neighbourhood.

6. Baraka

For a traditional Moroccan feast in Berlin, head over to Baraka in Kreuzberg. Everything about this place feels authentic, with its colourful interior, delicate tea sets and a flavour-filled menu. While there is a lot on offer, visitors can’t pass up the fluffy, delicious falafel, which can be paired with a mixture of sides and sauces.
