Boxhagener Platz in Friedrichshain is not only a perfect place to start the night, but also a perfect place to start your morning. The abundance of breakfast and brunch places provides you with a wide variety of possibilities for how to enjoy the most important meal of the day. On Saturdays there is a local food market in Boxhagener Platz, and on Sundays, Berliners search for treasures at the famous flea market. Here’s some of our favorite places to fuel up for the day.
Schneeweiß
Schneeweiss serves a delicious and fulfilling start for the day. Not only is the cuisine inspired by the regional produce of the Alps, but so too are its beautiful white interior and wood paneled floors. A reservation is recommended in order to secure a table and to enjoy the famous buffet selection of sweet and savory Alpine specialties. The breakfast menu will please even the most demanding guests. It includes different cheeses, smoked sausages and ham, salads, and delicious spreads for the bread. The abundant Kurhaus Korsakow brunch | Courtesy of Sara Snäll

Imagine yourself sitting on the terrace in the sunshine, indulging in fresh and warm waffles that you have made yourself and decorated. This is a specialty from this lively restaurant on Simon-Dach-Strasse. The brunch is offered every weekend with fresh salads, fruits, and both hot and cold food options that will satisfy all your cravings.
Around the corner, there is an oasis for everyone looking for a vegan or gluten-free breakfast. The French-style cute café, Ohlala, serves a brunch including creative specialties, such as tacos, different spreads, and quiches. Everything is served beautifully in small bowls and plates. The assortment changes every week, while the quality remains excellent. The brunch is available from 11.00-15.00. A perfect morning | Courtesy of Café 100 Wasser

Café Hundertwasser
A famous brunch place with an abundant buffet table on Simon-Dach-Strasse is Café Hundertwasser. Brunch is offered with a German twist, respecting the traditional cuisine. The famous brunch also includes a hot drink, whereas usually in Berlin the drinks are not included.
On weekdays, Macondo serves different Latin American breakfast options, enabling you to experience a morning in Argentinian, Mexican, or Colombian fashion. On Sundays, the brunch buffet is served from 10am and for an affordable price, you can eat directly next to Boxhagener Platz. Why enjoy brunch only on the weekend, when you can enjoy it every day. Alarabi Lounge offers breakfast from Monday to Saturday until 4pm, and the Sunday brunch is served until 5pm, with oriental flavors. The breakfast buffet includes delicious hot and cold delicacies like grilled vegetables, meats, and salads alongside a bread and cheese assortment, plus coffee or tea. Restaurant Die Turnhalle
Restaurant, European, Vegetarian
Berlin is famous for up-cycling places and turning them into cafés, restaurants, or nightclubs. One good example is Die Turnhalle, which was previously a school’s sport hall and nowadays serves as a café-restaurant. Even though the restaurant is spacious with a beautiful terrace, it is still strongly recommended to make a reservation for the brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. The Mediterranean-inflected brunch is includes a large selection of cold and hot foods. They even serve a separate cake buffet to satisfy all your cravings on Sundays.
Proviant
Proviant serves different Mediterranean à la carte breakfast menus that change from time to time, including tasty meats such as truffle salami, cheeses, and breads that are served with homemade pestos. Everything is fresh and regional with a preference toward organic products. You can even take it to go and have a picnic or enjoy it at home.
