The Best Spots for Organic Food in Berlin

The first important fact to know about Berlin’s organic scene is that, in Germany, organic is known as “Bio” (pronounced bee-oh), as in biological. Berlin has a fair amount of organic restaurants, organic cafés, and organic supermarkets in every neighborhood for vegan, vegetarians, and meat eaters alike.

If you’re hungrily cruising around Mitte, then you need to go to SUPERFOODS & ORGANIC LIQUIDS for a healthy and absolutely tasty organic meal. They have great organic coffee, gluten-free options, and a place that will make you forget you’re even vegan. If you’re there on the weekends, you’re in for a waffle surprise – a perfect day is on its way.

2. Kiepert & Kutzner

This owner-run organic grocery shop in Prenzlauer Berg makes you feel like you’re in an old Berlin. The atmosphere confirms your healthy decisions and lifestyle. They have organic meats, cheese, and plenty more. The prices are fairly reasonable, and the selection is pleasantly delightful.

3. Witty's

So, you come to Berlin and you hear about Berlin’s currywurst, and you’re absolutely torn: “I don’t trust the meat industry, but I kind of feel like I have to try the currywurst while I’m here.” Have no fear, there is now an organic currywurst stand that even serves organic French fries.

Here you will find a delicious variety of healthy vegetarian dumplings. If it’s nice, grab a seat outside, but if the weather presses you indoors, have no fear, for momos has a cozy and homey environment.

Raw food made delicious is Rawtastic. Beware, you may become addicted to this healthy raw restaurant. They even serve gluten-free beer – how’s that for fantastic?

6. Biotopia Berlin

Located in the Wrangelkiez, this little organic shop is a great place to eat lunch, pick up food for a picnic by the canal or in the park, or stock up your fridge and kitchen with organic goodies. Even though the space is quite small, you can eat a homemade soup by the window bar and still manage to find everything your little healthy heart desires.

7. Café Tasso

If you want to eat healthy and be surrounded by delicious books and magazines, check out Café Tasso. The healthy food is made with heart and soul, and made affordable. In the evening, this cultural location often has concerts and live music.

Besides offering free filtered water, which is a complete anomaly in Berlin, they have affordable vegan sandwiches, soups, coffee, and a sweet treat selection of delicious desserts. You can’t go wrong with Ökotussi.
