Inspiring Interior Designs of Copenhagen's Cosy Cafes
When Copenhageners’ style meets interior design, the result is some seriously inspiring and gorgeous cafes. We’ve selected 7 stylish coffee shops that will guarantee you a happy morning start, and give you one more reason, in an already long list, to visit Copenhagen.
1. Laundromat Café
One of the most boring daily tasks is less of a chore for Copenhageners because while they leave their clothes in the washing machine they can catch up with their friends and enjoy a warm cup of tea on Laundromat Café’s comfy couches. The first Laundromat café opened in 2004 in Nørrebro, but it soon turned out that one is not enough. So now locals can choose among three Laundromat cafés, all of them decorated with the same great red interior. The homemade cakes and milkshakes are another reason that the place is usually full from early morning until late at night.

2. Coffee Collective
Sip an aromatic espresso while observing the green coffee beans roasting in Coffee Collective‘s roastery. The elegant café with beautiful interior design serves different coffee varieties produced in farms all over the world and made by the café’s experienced baristas. Both the owners and the employees share the same passion for coffee, and they join forces to create high quality results. Coffee Collective has three bars all over Copenhagen but the roastery is at the one on Godthåbsvej, so drop in on the first Friday of the month for a guided tour.

3. Cafe Bang & Jensen
Cafe, European, Danish
4. Royal Smushi Cafe
Royal Smushi Cafe looks like a doll’s house, filled with colourful furniture and quirky decoration items that you just can’t stop looking at. Located in the courtyard between Royal Copenhagen and George Jensen, it serves homemade drinks and gourmet delicacies in small delicate portions that they have named “smushi”. Smushi comes from the words sushi and smørrebrød (the danish open sandwich) and the idea is that local cuisine’s dishes are served in small sushi portions, so in one meal you get to enjoy a great variety of tastes.

5. Paludan Bog & Café
Cafe, European
The favourite meeting spot for students struggling to meet deadlines as well as for bookworms who want to enjoy some minutes away from the city noise lost in the pages of a good book is Paludan café. Its great location in the heart of the city centre facing Copenhagen’s main library, makes the classy coffee shop one of the favourite spots for locals. There you’ll meet people of every age tasting their favorite brunch or salad, while leafing through a book.
6. Café Retro Nørrebro
This non-profit café is located on Jægersborggade, Nørrebro’s hip district. Its warm and at the same time slightly bizarre interior makes it one of our favourite places for a chilled beverage or a warm chai latte. The friendly volunteers behind the bar create a lively and youthful atmosphere. During the summertime, the wooden tables on the outdoor area of the café get packed with stylish Copenhageners soaking up the sun.

7. Tjili Pop
Tjili Pop is divided into three areas and each one of them has a different decoration. However, no matter where you choose to chill out, the comfy couches and various vintage objects will instantly make you feel at home. The main area in the front is ideal for those who feel sociable and wouldn’t mind sharing their table with another group of friends, while the cosy little rooms in the back are the perfect choice for those who enjoy some privacy when indulging in their favourite drink. Finally, smokers will be happy to hear that the third room is a smoking lounge. Tjili Pop is the favorite hangout of Copenhageners of every age.
