Even if you don’t care about the imminent reopening of one of the world’s best restaurants, the Faroe Islands’ gorgeous scenery will have you aching to plan your next Scandinavian vacation.

Noma, voted the top restaurant in the world for the past several years running, closed in February and is slated to reopen early next year in a new location. In the meantime, it seems like chef René Redzepi and his team are having a fabulous few months off, traveling around Scandinavia to get inspired and invigorated for Noma 2.0.
The team just posted a video to the restaurant’s website as a sort of trailer for the new Noma incarnation, with the stunning scenery of the Faroe Islands providing the backdrop for chef Redzepi’s musings. We see waterfalls cascading down high cliffs, and the team spooning uni from a freshly caught sea urchin, while Redzepi tells a little about their travels—it’s the same journey they took 14 years ago back when Noma first opened, he says in the video.
Noma had announced a couple of weeks ago that the restaurant’s reopening, originally planned for late 2017, would be delayed by a month or so until early 2018. Redzepi reiterates that in the video, saying “it’s a good thing”—the team is so inspired by their travels that having an extra month to work on the new menu and pursue fresh ideas is something they’re very happy about.
In the meantime, you’re left with this teaser and fantasies of a trip to the Faroe Islands.
