Over the last couple of years, food trucks have become a popular dining option on the island of Puerto Rico. The food truck boom has been influenced by the troubles in the Puerto Rican economy, which has led to customers looking for affordable yet tasty food options. A variety of food is available, as the trucks serve some traditional dishes, but also look to innovate. Here are the food trucks in Puerto Rico that you can’t afford to miss.

El Lobo Guavate Urbano

Since 2015, El Lobo has been located near Old San Juan in the Puerta de Tierra area. Open Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 11am to 10pm, Thursday from 11am to 11pm, and Friday and Saturday from 11am to 2am, this spot has a great view of the water. They describe themselves as “a food truck specializing in Puerto Rican-style roasted pig, cooked and braised on a stick, and typical Puerto Rican food.” Other menu items include empanadillas, amarillos, and beef alcapurrias.

El Churry

El Churry was founded in 1998 by Francisco Rivera and José Nogueras, ahead of the recent food truck boom. One of the most well-known food trucks on the island, El Churry has expanded to include seven food trucks, a bricks-and-mortar store in Puerto Rico, and a food truck in Orlando, Florida. Their most famous menu item is a steak sandwich. The different locations have their own hours, which can be found on their website. You can also keep up with El Churry on Instagram.

Patrons can also choose from grilled meats, mofongos, and desserts. The food truck is located in Caguas, in front of a Walgreens in the Bairoa neighborhood, by Road #1. They’re open Tuesday from 11am to 3pm, Wednesday and Thursday from 11am to 9pm, Friday from 11am to 1opm, and Saturday from 12pm to 10pm.

Specializing in Puerto Rican food made with local and natural ingredients, Cosecha is open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 11am to 4pm, and Thursday and Friday from 11am to 10pm.
