Transformed by a booming economy, Danang has quickly evolved from a rather seedy jumping-off point to a full-fledged holiday destination. Today, Vietnam’s third largest city is attracting a larger, more diverse crowd of travelers than ever before. As interest has surged in this coastal city, the nightlife has improved exponentially. We’re here to introduce the best spots for a night out in Danang.

Sky 36

Let’s start with the tallest, most in-your-face night spot on the list. Sky 36 is an inside/outside sleek, neon feast for the eyes. Spectacular views stretch from the East Sea to the Annamite Mountains, as multiple DJs and stage dancers ensure the party never stops. There’s no cover, but drinks will set you back a bit more than usual, around 150,000-200,000 VND. If the club atmosphere inside becomes a bit too much, head to the terrace and enjoy the surroundings.

Technically a Rasta bar, Simple Man may be the friendliest place in town. While the neighbors pump out club beats, Simple Man plays Vietnamese rock or American punk. While they serve overpriced cocktails, Simple Man pours a cheap glass of suds and the best margarita in town. For a chilled-out night around the pool table with friends, there’s simply nowhere better.

Waterfront

Waterfront is a great open and airy addition to this list. With an often crowded sports bar on the first floor and a relaxing restaurant with a view on the second, this is one establishment with a diverse clientele. Two giant flat screens bring Western sport to this seaside town, while the house band rocks the joint with anything from rock to classical tunes every Friday night. A nice daily happy hour and a great ladies night (Tuesdays) only sweetens the pot.

Golden Pine Pub

Located next door to Simple Man, The Golden Pine Pub is one of the most popular places in town. It’s frequented by a great mix of expats and locals, and is known to be just a tad lawless at times. Don’t be surprised to see scantily clad Vietnamese and Westerners dancing up on the bar. With pool tables and other bar games across two floors, this is a great place to spend a night out.

Phuong Dong Nightclub

One of the trendiest new clubs in town, Phuong Dong may have the best light show in central Vietnam. A mostly young, well-dressed crowd fills this joint seven nights a week. A moving hydraulic stage and some of the loudest club tunes in town ensure this dance floor is always packed.

Bamboo 2 Bar

Bar, Pub Grub

Bamboo 2 is one of the best expat bars in town. Occupying two floors just next to the river, this is another joint that can fill up fast. If the first floor is standing room only, head on upstairs and find a pool table with a view of the Dragon Bridge.

Oasis Tapas Bar

Bar, Restaurant, Spanish

One of the hippest places in town, Oasis serves up fantastic tapas and excellent craft beer at prices you won’t find elsewhere. The lively open-air atmosphere is both casual and relaxed, and the place is home to a cool younger crowd. Located a few minutes from downtown and closer to the beach, Oasis is a slice of Barcelona in Vietnam.

Red Dragon Pub

Bar, Contemporary

Incredibly friendly and attentive staff make this a great riverfront stop on any night out. The terrific roof deck offers unparalleled views of the fire spewed from Dragon Bridge every Saturday and Sunday night. The Red Dragon is usually a nice mix of expats, locals, and travelers.
